Mirai tree sale

Alright alright I’m playing referee , now I’m tired of the digs at BobbyLane it’s an open thread there doesn’t have to be hostility toward his free opinion and still doesn’t take away from the thread either. Chill

Feel free to disagree, but clogging up the Eisei-En thread with a bunch of irrelevant material and statements substantianted with nothing other than "trust me bro" didn't really create a particularly good indication that the same wasn't going to happen here. In the sense that he is more than free to post here to his hearts content, other posters should also be permitted to give their opinion on the quality of the replies if they're so inclined.

@Bonsai Forest Nice creation, but let's not accidentally threadjack this into being an AI tree pic thread. I actually do want to see and discuss the Mirai trees (preferably without all the banal, off-topic, pointless chatter about prices and apples & oranges comparisons with DIY from nursery stock that we had in the Eisei-en sale thread) once the trees go up for display on the Mirai site.

For clarification on your process of reasoning and logic: Suppose I had not posted a picture of my A.I. generated art as a response to your A.I. generated art, and instead, I asked you to not derail and threadjack with non-Mirai trees, would I have any basis for doing so?

It’s okay if you post A.I. bonsai, but not others. Is my assessment accurate?

Oh good lord....

The sale hasn't even been posted yet and this thread is already 4 pages long with knashing of teeth about buying better trees at yard sales or Craig's list for $20....or hoping Mirai is going to sell those 100 year old yamadori at bargain basement prices.

P.s. not going to happen

I probably can't afford a Mirai or Ensai-en tree either but clearly someone buys the freaking things. They will probably have some stuff that is not so high end but still has had some time put into it and will be higher than some folks want to spend. It's fine if we cant or dont want to buy. Doesn't mean the trees are overpriced or not worth it.

As others said, I'd like to see he trees with a good discussion about the trees without the bashing.

Dude, I'm not attacking you for posting your AI pic. (When I mentioned "banal, off-topic, pointless chatter", it wasn't you that I was thinking of. Should've placed a carriage return after the first sentence where I @'ed you because the rest was really a separate line of thought.) I just had visions of 10 other people taking that as a cue to also respond with AI pics and, at that point, the thread is never going to get back on track... and I want it to be back on track because I want to discuss the Mirai trees.

I posted the AI bonsai with Clippy, not for the purpose of posting an AI bonsai, but to mock a monumentally stupid idea (one which was already hashed out in the Eisei-en sale thread): that an average bonsai hobbyist is going to go out, buy some nursery stock, and somehow *poof* a few years later they'll have anything remotely resembling a Mirai tree. It ain't gonna happen and it's not even worth making the comparison. Thus, my satirical post with Clippy, the mascot of unhelpful suggestions.

So.. Leeettsss all chill, and get this baby back on track to the good stuff. Mirai Trees. Love or hate Ryan, the trees created are really cool and I do not know of many people on this forum that can beat the insight and technical abilities, so.. I wanne see trees, learn from them and discuss their horrible prices because I am too cheap to ever invest 10K in a tree.

When can we expect the Mirai sale trees to start appearing online?
Do I understand correctly they will only be posted on instagram? Or .. no.. they must have a sales pages on their website at some point?

It seems we'll get a trickle of teaser images on their Instagram, like the one posted previously in this thread. When the sale goes live, they will have a page on their website on a proper sales page.

I'm curious if they'll have much in the way of shohin or other small trees. Since I'm renting my home in a big city, I don't think I can much risk owning a large (or even medium...) tree of high quality. Not that I'm actually planning to purchase a tree, but seeing as Bonsai Mirai is right down the road, I would love to someday.

I would love to have a place like that down the road. I would be there once a month at least, assuming they would let me in.
Well when I say down the road... I mean about 2.5 hours drive down the road! But yes, realizing how blessed my region is with bonsai locations is one of the reasons I've jumped headfirst into the hobby.

Its likely the instagram teasers will only represent the best of the best trees for sale. There will probably be others of less visual interest for sale.

they will post a few on Insta, but the sale goes live on 24 AUG. I'm pretty sure the link will appear on their website like last year. It should be on their "store" drop down menu.

Fair enough, understood. My apologies 🍻

My issue here is what the hell is a "mercantile sale" supposed to mean? As opposed to what, a non-mercantile one? Where goods and services are not exchanged??
Ryan does like using more words than necessary to get the point across, like artisanal ceramic container = bonsai pot

Do people really don't know the difference between mercantile and non mercantile?

Mercantile sale is just a fancy word for commercial sale, to make money. To sell or buy something for money.

Non-mercantile are usually agents that makes money out of you but not for selling or buying goods. like your wife or husband... well. the web says really like a lawyer, bankers, insurance agents, etc...

This is not my language but mercantile, merchant, etc... is usually referred to someone that sells goods.

I would agree, but disagree at the same time. The pot that Mirai sell are far from simple bonsai pots. He DOES represent artisans. But yes, he does like to use embellishing verbiage.
