It's at the very beginning of this one.

I didn't understand how he talks in very begining about how his home and trees were vandalized and then continues to make s 9 minute video.

Wow!! After watching his video, I totally understand!.. What a great positive message on life. Good for him!! There are many more parts in his life that are more important than material things...

In a way, if you do bonsai. You also get used to loosing things you love.
most of us if you do it long enough loose some trees we love, by our own fault or bugs or whatever went wrong. Your sad for it but learn to accept loss

The trick is to have many trees so you can stomach losing some. Diversify your portfolio, as it were.

Damn, shoulda taken a page out Bjorn's book and got a GSD. Hell, I'da had a pack a wolves up there.

Well, it is Mirai, not see the Mirai.

Hope they poked their stupid eyes out on a jin!

The kind of thinking that destroyed Portland lurks throughout the PNW. It's not really politics which is activities that are associated with making decisions in groups, it's striking out at somebody(s') stuff to demonstrate rage at life's inequitable distribution of happiness as though the target was responsible. It convinces nobody.

This is why I like dogs better than people.
Terrible......dirtbags

I hope Ryan and his family have a quick recovery from this stupidity

So pointless. It's the reason why they have the Mona Lisa behind about 6" of bulletproof glass. Not because of the risk of theft... but because of nut cases. Sad that Ryan and his family had to be on the receiving end... but glad that no one was hurt.

If you watch the video on bristlecone pines, it was sad to hear that the pine that has been identified as the "oldest living thing on the planet" has very specifically not been publicly identified, because the assumption is that people would damage/kill it. Just 'cuz.

Reminds me of this:

Luckily, I just happened to pay a visit a couple months before this idiot destroyed it.

So, such a tree is only worth 20 months in jail. What does that say about out justice system?

I’m not sure any punishment would make me feel any different about it. Something that stood the test of time for 3500 years - hurricane after hurricane after hurricane, serving as a waypoint for native Seminole tribes - then, some human comes along and burns it down. That says so much about our society that no justice could ever amend for. Such a lack of respect and care for anything outside their tiny world.

Now, this happens to a man just trying make a living and share his passion for trees and art.

Is it mental illness in all these types of cases? Lack of education? Issues stemming from addiction? Is it possible to have a society where these types of things don’t happen over and over?

The percentage of crazy or evil or just perverse people is very small, but our population is so large at 325,000,000 that they matter. Add to that the greatly different way we, as a bunch of different groups with different standards of behavior and definitions of appropriate punishment also don't agree on how to prevent them from doing bad things and that's what you get, -After Action Reports instead of constructive prevention. Especially with drug addicts we don't even have places to lock them up and cure them them until they get so bad that they break some laws. Behaving badly isn't enough to warrant treatment. Self-destruction has to reach some maximum level before we act. Our bar is set too high. For shame.

In his latest video, Ryan Neil said his home and trees were vandalized. He doesn't think the home is livable in it's present condition. Several of his best trees were destroyed. Who would do such a thing?!! Makes me sad.
Antifa, BLM, ----you realize he only lives a short distance from down town Port Land.

It shouldn’t really matter because this type of reaction would be completely uncalled for regardless, but, has Ryan taken any public political stances or anything?
