Evolution of Mirai Live

I still haven't cancelled my membership, but haven't used it in months. Looking now, doesn't look like anything new content wise on the site, the app got some minor updates, but nothing to write home about.

I’ve been wondering that myself, I stopped my sub as soon as live streams were ended. His latest thing seems to be trying to get bonsai clubs to sell subscriptions for him.
Battle of the Clubs! Sounded cool until I found out it's just a contest to see what club can sell the most candy bars (subscriptions).

If you want to look at any of the legacy videos do a free week trial or buy a month and binge. There’s nothing new added to the library and the app is a waste of money imho. Especially paying what it costs for pro membership

I tend to subscribe on and off as I have time to binge, as @Patrick K mentions…these days, that’s never!

I think the Mirai Library is well worth the subscription cost, but if you have access to high quality, in person education as we do on the west coast, it’s a much better investment.

Yeah. Kind of lame, but I guess you can’t blame a guy for trying to drum up more business. Sounds like there is no reason to think it will be worthwhile again anytime soon.

No new streams. That was were l saw the most value. Especially with setting structure on yamadori. I’m about to pull the plug after hoping he would circle back to perhaps prerecorded streams or other longer form content.

Old thread, but since it got bumped I will ask: Is there anyone who has stuck with a Mirai live membership? Has anything new popped up that makes it worth having if the app isn’t your cup of tea?

I cancelled a while ago because I found I quickly lost interest without the streams.
I just checked and I was on the annual plan and forgot to cancel 🤦🏻‍♂️ never fit my schedule to watch the streams live, but I haven't watched much (if any) since the weekly streams stopped. Guess I'll "binge" over the remaining 9 months of my membership...

I miss the good ole days of Super Tuesday with the live stream every week! I always looked forward to that. 😃
Totally agree. Ryan needs to do what’s best for him and his business, that said the current value proposition isn’t there. I would have been fairly satisfied with reducing the number of streams to one a month but oh well

I’m sure it has. A good work/life balance is important. (But I’m not going to subsidize it by paying for an app I dont need.)

Just wondering if anybody out there has the app and can give feedback as to how happy they are with it as both an educational/technique reference tool and a "calender" for activities?
It has been a while since launch so I'm guessing any early bugs are now ironed out, improvements made and what is available now is essentially the backbone of the app and how it will operate.
I know there was a lot of emphasis on the educational angle when Mirai Live was up and running and plenty of reference to "nuance" when it came down to specific timing for jobs/activities related to tree maintenance. I struggle to see how that can be effectively incorporated into an app that does all things for all people, everywhere. I know there is zoning etc but that doesn't really accurately translate in Australia for instance, and then there is differentiating between trees depending on their developmental stage etc... Not trying to stir up a hornet's nest but just genuinely interested how effective the app is at dealing with timing of tasks and maintenance for individual trees along with providing an educational service to those that have it.
I genuinely wish Ryan well, he did a massive amount to promote and elevate bonsai in the western world over the last decade plus ... my hat is off to him.

I recently reactivated my membership after cancelling at the time the live streams stopped to check if there were any new videos and to binge watch the old ones.

It’s surprising/alarming how often the question of “how long will you leave the wire on?” comes up 😅

I'm not a member of Mirai anymore (lack of time to watch his videos). I think Mirai is still the richest and best value for money to learn. Better than Bonsai Empire for example.

That library of streams is extremely concentrated. Im pretty certain everything you need to know about growing trees in pots has been covered in immense detail.

That’s definitely true and I think the content is great, just can’t justify spending the money monthly. I’ll probably check back in in the spring for a refresher

Somewhat agree about monthly fees, when you have a few subscriptions going for whatever reasons, your outgoings can definitely add up! Im a deciduous guy, so after I had my fill of the Mirai content I opted out. I did watch a few of the conifer videos too. The streams are bingeworthy for anyone still sitting on the fence, you will learn a lot.

I subscribed for that, then a couple weeks later they stopped...glad I got the 1 year sub... 😩
