Mirai tree sale

I looked at the only one bald cypress available for purchase https://bonsaimirai.com/bonsai/bald-cypress-no-2
It is a nice looking tree for sure but I have a very hard time believing that the tree is 100-250 years old.
You REALLY have to get on the Facebook BC bonsai group.

There's a pic on that group page of one area where naturally stunted trees like this were found. It's posted on the FB group by admin Randy Bennett. I can't post it here, it's not my photo, but there were a few areas like it in La. and Fla. back in the day--like early 90's. Trees are all about four or five feet tall and were apparently stunted by the local conditions, acid soil, or the like. Can't remember the cause. Mary Madison collected more than a few of those trees.

Also, there are folks there looking for bonsai stock trees as well...jus'sayin'

I like your attitude. Somehow you reminded me of HarryS. Am not sure how many here still remember HarryS from Oklahoma. He has some of the most beautiful trees as well which cause my brain to draw the connection but his attitude is more like @Smoke.
How many here still remember HarryS from OK? He is definitely an old timer...

I think Harry Greer gave up on bonsai a while back. He sold off most, if not all, of his trees. Some have turned up sold through Don Blackmond, who I think bought Harry's collection. I hope Harry is still with us.

Yep, Mr. Greer. He was quite an individual when he still has trees. You're right he sold most of it quite a while ago.

I will. I have seen stunted BCs. Stil it is healthy to question in earnest.

I'm hoping for variety in size as well. Would love to see some shohins and small chuuhins.

Click on Mirai's "Gallery" on the website. Use the drop down menu on the left to sort by "available for purchase."Dozens of trees will come up. Scroll through them. Prices are not listed. The majority of those trees are collected, very old, some VERY old and worked to some extent. I don't think they will be what is put up for sale in the upcoming "mercantile," but they are indicative of what Ryan "wants to get rid of"

Thank you for the info . How do we contact bonsai Mirai if am interested in buying a few that are Available for Purchase ?

Beg the question... is Ryan raw stock better than other seller raw stock?
Like all things Bonsai; it depends. He does get first crack from some of the big name collectors(mainly Randy and Dan/Steve) so he’s likely going to the get the best yamadori/raw trees in that regard. But there are other collectors that he doesn’t have first access to and so there’s probably some killer finds if you can get to them before the pros. I’ve seen some trees from Peter Tea that’s pretty frocking awesome.

Admittedly they’re slow at responding to that inbox. I can PM you JP’s direct email for a faster response. He’s their sales director.

Sale link is up, but no trees listed there yet. Sale starts at 11 am Pacific Time (2 pm Eastern).
