Mame contest idea

Sweet. I'll post my entries above when I get back on the PC, need to take advantage of this growing season I think so that is some incentive to not wait to the last minute.

As a side I am completely stumped for a third entry unless it is another Bougie which I can find easy but want to try something else if I can, I don't think I can make a Mame out of the Eucalyptus I have. I need to keep an eye out for something me.

I'm hoping I can pull something off with them. I had taken a friend to Lowe's and ran across the pink one. I checked them out online and thought I might be okay with them. Then the hunt was on!

I am preparing to post my plants for the contest... Not sure yet about one of my choices...
Anyway, I have a new question.
The quote below is from the contest regulations at the page of entries.
... ...
Updates/voting:

Like to vote
When the entry date is passed two weeks to vote for the best entry to get a winner for part one.
I saw today that there are members hitting the like button. I almost did the same myself.
But then I checked the terms and I think we should not yet post like to vote. Or am I wrong?
It's the first time I enter a contest..., so maybe I misunderstand? I need some clarification, please.

I think it will be a like for the final presented picture of the tree that is the one counted and not likes for earlier posts.
I'm sure there will be a thread for all of us to post our finished entries.

I already gave it a tought, also i havnt been clear on this so:

i will create an entry voting thread where each tree is posted separated and not 3 trees in one post because its not clear wich tree gets the vote

No big win but just fun to see what entry is considered best by all the bnuts

I was assuming that we would have a "Final Thread" made because after all in the entry thread...............they aren't even done yet!

Also a suggestion for the final thread:

Each one of us should post our trees consecutively to add some cohesion to the thread. So if you will enter more than one tree in the final thread, wait until they are all done and post em up. So lazy asses like me don't have to go through pages to find all your trees :p:p

btw I'M F'n PUMPED!!!!!!!!! going to find my third entry this weekend unless it doesn't find me

There will be winner of the 1st phase, winner of the 2nd phase and at the end the winner of the 3rd phase. It is clearly stated

There will be a opened update thread for the end of contest part two on 20-11-2018 to show the mames in their pots and again vote by likes to get a winner out of part two
... ... ... ...
And again like to vote for the best progression and result to get a winner for part three

In my eyes finding a decent candidate is one of the harder things .... see the smallest tree possible in anything thats why i cutted the contest three !

@StoneCloud enjoying your enthousiasm !
I am taking it slow selecting my candidate thats a thing i learned from past fall contest!

3 stages of voting seems odd to me. I mean it's effectively voting for the nicest pot plant and then the best stump in a nice pot.

My next entry is going to be posted soon and deliberately as it is now which frankly looks like it is dead.
I'm not posting it for likes but more so you can see the final transformation.

I'm not bothered either way really but I already liked a few posts out of encouragement which i think is ok because at the end there will be an updated thread for the likes.

@Starfox it's for the fun of it! :)
Exactly as you said : We do not enter the "contest" for the likes but so that we share some experience of our own work.
However, we shall stick to the terms of the organizer of the contest! :)
I am so anxious to post my entries, but I have to wait a little longer because I will take advantage of the "3 trees" rule.

Yeah it was just a long winded way of saying that I think you can like posts now as later there will be a thread for it. :D

I really need more ☕.
:)

I got a mallsai shohin elm that all I did was slip pot, my first tree was an elm and it died so I have unfinished business with elms. Not sure it would be a good entrant for this as it is already on it's way but I'll certainly follow your progress with it.

I do have a big dutch elm in the ground at our 150m2 veggie garden maybe worth a look for an airlayer

This one is also bought in the malsai corner :)

Ok
I would like to play
But I need more info.
Once put in a mame pot for photo- can it be removed to grow out more? Then repotted again to Mame?
For cascade or semi cascade how do you measure? Does it have to be 6inch above or below the soil? And can it be greater than 6 inch wide?
Does that matter?
Can I use the Fukien tea from my avatar?
It was purchased on 5/2 at lowes and trunk chopped- it is back budding now. No root work was done at the time. Just removed black roots.
It may end up too big at the end??
Currently it's pot is greater than 5 inches and it has full roots.
