IMG_3115.JPG IMG_3116.JPG Example on these 2 does the top crown count as inches or just straight trunk to tip long ways?
Or does it just have to be shorter than 6 inches above the soil?

Ok
I would like to play
But I need more info.
Once put in a mame pot for photo- can it be removed to grow out more? Then repotted again to Mame?
For cascade or semi cascade how do you measure? Does it have to be 6inch above or below the soil? And can it be greater than 6 inch wide?
Does that matter?
Can I use the Fukien tea from my avatar?
It was purchased on 5/2 at lowes and trunk chopped- it is back budding now. No root work was done at the time. Just removed black roots.
It may end up too big at the end??
Currently it's pot is greater than 5 inches and it has full roots.

Sure use the fukien tea
Part two is to get it in the pot
It has to be in a Mame pot by 20-11-2018
It has to stay in there from that date cus keeping it alive is a challenge too

About the measurements
Id say like this dont know what others think about this?

I think my overall goal for this one is bigger than requirements. I will look for something else.

Well, at the end of the contest we will post some photos of the progression procedure, as per the terms at the entries' thread.
But I think it would be interesting if we posted here some photos in the meantime.
Or not?
I have made some work already.... It is very possible that it will prove to be a disaster (due to unfavourable timing) but I would like to show them.
What do you think of this?

For example, this is a Bougainvillea nana. Entry #1 for the contest

I have already worked with this little tree.
Upon loosening the soil I encountered a mess of fat, twisted roots and I had to almost use and repot the plant as a cutting (kind of)

I think maybe each of us just doing a thread to keep progress of our trees easier to keep track of. No? Than to sift through here. Though I see why one couldn't if the chose to add a photo here.

Myself...I am in the wall with the goji...depending on the roots if they can be exposed more if it will toss it into a Shohin classification. I'm not going to stress it. I will allow the material to dictate final size. I still have the itch Boston Ivy.

Thank you for posting your view, Darlene.
Yes, it would be better to start one's own "Mame Contest Progression Thread"
