What happens when a big tree hits a bigger tree...

You can have any tree in my collection, period.

Damn Dave...Really sorry for your loss. People think I'm crazy when I obsess over trees or get sad when one dies or gets sick. But within the bonsai community we understand the immense effort and love that goes in them.

Hope both you and the trees recover well.

Oh no....hmm, hmmm.....
That is not cool, at all.
Wow, that's a devastating blow...
Just try to keep that silver lining you mentioned, in the front of your mind.

Damn....I can't imagine how I'd feel, and my trees are all crap!
I don't really know what to say.

Damn Dave! No words man. That red pine... ugh!!!! But the silver lining: Now you have an excuse to go out and buy more!
Maybe not more, but better. First things first, I need to rebuild the benches... then we'll see what gets put on them.

I'm sorry @Dav4 ... no words. I can't imagine what that would feel like. I agree that finding new trees will soften the blow, and we know you will find some really nice ones.

Ahh, shit happens. I'll survive along with most of my collection... my beard seems a bit grayer this morning, though.

Oh no! I can't imagine this happening to me, I don't know how I'd respond. That JRP is a killing blow. I lost mine this past spring, and it was nothing near your beauty, and I still can't bear it. I hope that the best of them are salvageable, and that this doesn't set you back too far, although it looks pretty horrifying. I am crossing my fingers that your homeowners will cover at least some of the damage. If not the trees for their value, perhaps the pots would be covered.

Thanks Judy. I won't bother filing a claim as I doubt any of the damage would be covered. I only lost 1 very large Yamaaki pot, maybe $200-$250, though I was honestly in too much shock yesterday to really assess everything adequately. Also, there's that pesky deductible. Luckily, I don't think the damages would exceed $5000. It's so hard to put a value on trees like these. I have no idea what the fair market value of the JRP is/was. Sorry to here about your pine. It was a good one, too.

Damn. This really sucks. I hope that big azalea is salvageable. So sorry to see these pics. This was a really heavy wet snow for sure.
