Terra Cotta: My musings on...and resulting actions with.

I think I have seen a few.
Every third week of the month is "survival" learning!šŸ˜‰

Still looking.. this one is a little smaller.. but i could construct a wooden base UNDER it for more volume... and i have enough wet ON HAND to do it today.,,

Iā€™ll keep looking for the ball with a ā€œhandleā€ šŸ¤£4BE5AFCE-6E52-457C-96B7-EAF3A95E4CC1.jpeg

That duck upside down is...

The eye side a door to open the head which is the firebox, neck sucks the flame into the ware chamber which is the body.
The beak is the air intake for the firebox.

He would then need a big Johnson for a chimney around that area.

Chimney is everything! I used 8 large peach cans. The bricks yeah?

Howard the Kiln.

I had also considered the duck after the initial joke.

The only problem is it has FOUR valves.. and I couldnā€™t bring myself to ā€œStab the duckā€.. because itā€™s not mine. ;)

If you had a retaining wall to build this into, that would be magnif. I guess you could make the front the firebox door huh?

Countersunk into the ground then a lot of the support is earth, for the brick chimney.

Small hole at the bottom to burn down your ash pile. Primary air. More air plus spy hole, for your cone pack. Dong chimney.

Iā€™ll have to leave holes to access the valves on the duck.. patch them after.. would that work?

Plan for a spy or air hole! Air holes are easier to close than drill.

If iā€™m doing ā€œhowardā€.. i would want access to ā€œearthā€.... it IS the best idea BESIDES that one point of not having land.

I DO have large punchey balloons (from a different life ;) ) that would work...

Would i worry about the ā€œshelvesā€ AFTER the main structure is built, or try to incorporate them into the design?.. like maybe a leather belt ā€œequatoringā€ the ballon for an ā€œedgeā€ to make it easier later?

They always say plan around the shelves.

Work determines shelves, shelves determine chamber size, chamber size determines BTU and draft, local codes destroy all the plans! Hehehe!

This is what iā€™m doinā€™..,

i still have to go over it again in itā€™s entirety.. i had some ā€œshifting issuesā€ that spread the mud/sand/clay level too much..

so iā€™ll be going over all of it again tomorrow after i return with my ā€œclay bountyā€šŸ¤£
