Last weekend, I sprayed all the tree with diluted neem oil solution.
This morning, from the backdoor, I saw this crepe myrtle needs a little branch adjustment.
I like to have its final capopy as orange outline.
There is a wide empty space E.
I need to bring the branch B down to fill E up.
I used pulling technique to let the branch B down. The plastic tube is an used nasal cannula for oxygen which I got plenty from my work. Pulling wire is 22 G (I choose size depending on how much force I want to use)
The task was finished. B is down. The top branch T will be taken care later on in the season with clip and grow method.
This is a cork oak. Its trunk base diameter is about 8" and its height is 28". It has poor branch development in the front because I let this site stay in the shade for few years! I was too busy with other trees! Big mistake! Now I have to recover it!
I plan to build the bonsai benches and stands this year and to place all the big pot on swivel bearing, so that I can easily rotate them once in a while.
I found one of our best friends searching around on my shimpaku this morning . Did you see the tiny water drops on hers? I always spray rain water on shimpaku whenever I go out to the garden.

This is Montezuma cypress given to me by my teacher 2 years ago. At that time, its trunk base diameter was about 1.2 cm. It has been growing well in my area.
Its height is about 2.5 m.
Wired and brought the branch up for the new leader
Then I gave it another round of slow released chemical fertilizer!
Ah, I have to thank Si Nguyen about showing me the cutting method for Montezuma cypress. I used to think that the propagation of Montezuma cypress is difficult, but not any more!
Just put all of the cuttings into the water container and leave them in the shade until the roots emerge! Let see!
Rain has been coming into my area this morning. It will be here off and on for few days. I love rain and I think the trees do, too.
Liquidamber orientalis
All of pomegranate have lot of new shoots at this time! I will not prune them back until later! I want them to produce enough energy for the trees before I do some training for them.
Lot of young shoots! I think those young shoots would be a great source for auxin solution used for new transplanting trees or cutting! I will do some experiments for this hypothesis in the near future.
It is ready for pruning and wiring tomorrow.
