As long as I did not touch its rootage, it should be fine. I fertilized it with Woodace 12-3-6, humic acid granule and slow released organic fertilizer, full sun and enough water. You sure did take a lot off that twin trunk. If I didn't already know that you know what you're doing, I'd have thought that was a crazy thing to do this late in summer on a California juniper. Are you doing anything else to keep up its strength between now and Spring?
This juniper is quite inspiring! The trunk is so full of emotionCalifornia juniper

I know Carol. I live its fragrance liked grape candy! What a treat!
I am sure that the tree will survive in my area!. It is alive after the first brutal hot and dry summer! I surprise it has been continuously blooming from the mid summer up to now. I think because it is in stress! But nothing else I could help ! .Have you ever seen Sakura in Inland Empire? I never saw Sakura bonsai in all the bonsai shows in Southern California!
One of my friends who lives in East coast gifted me this Sakura last winter. I transplanted it to the current pot right away . The pot is big but the tree needs it ! It already gave me a few flowers at that time; now it gives more flowers . You can see the tree is struggling with the heat in my area . If it is alive after the first summer, it will survive here . I use the same way I acclimated my ume . Wish me luck!
