My year around bonsai work in the Inland Empire, CA

This crepe myrtle is waiting to be pruned and probably wired.

I just found very interesting branch (A to B). I don't remember I wired it that way! It gives me an idea to design the branch later on!

Few flowers are still trying to cling to life!!

The weather channel predicts that we will have 2 possible rainy days: today and tomorrow, in Southern California. It has been a cool overcast day. The humidity went up to 65%. I sprayed diluted neem oil solution on all of the bonsai and prebonsai this morning.
Without direct sunlight, my garden looks much more tranquil!
Here is one of the corners.

Pomegranates started changing their clothes!

The jujube tree is very important for me. The reason is that when its leaves turn yellow, it means fall is here. I can start transplanting the tree from now on (in my area).

That is one big raintree! You do like the big ones don't you. I'd like to see a picture of the trunk.

That waterfall pond area with the fruits in front is just stunning. Is that a small bridge in the back of it? Such a restful looking area.

Yes, I prefer the big one, but when my age is adding on, I tend to turn to the smaller one! :)
Because it is staying on the ground at this time, it is difficulty to take a picture of the trunk line. I am planning to transplant it to the pot very soon, and will take a picture then.

Thanks Judy.
You have the sharp eyes. Yes, it is the small bridge.

While working on the tamarix this morning, I decided to do a experiment.
As you might all know, the tamarix is very easy to propagate via cutting. I took 2 cuttings. Both of them will be placed into the water jar. One was placed in normal direction; one was placed upside down!

Because I am living in the hot dry area, my garden does not have much fall color liked other areas. However, this Japanese persimmon tree is a focal point in fall! :) It has a lot of fruit this year!
The health benefit of persimmon fruit is due to its antioxidant, antitumor characteristics and moderately high in calories.

Bonhe, am jealous with what you can grow in CA. Surprised to see all your trees are on the ground and not benches.

Eating too much can cause constipation :D I've actually heard of a woman who needed surgery from eating too much persimmon; there's something in it that can really mess up the GI in some people.

Namnhi, just satisfy with whatever you can grow, then you will be happy! :)
Yes, all of my bonsai should be off the ground! I planned to have the benches and stands built this summer, but thing changed! I will continue waiting for it happens!

You are absolutely correct. I did not dare to eat more than one piece of it due to this problem. It causes constipation because of lot of tannin (it likes guava).

It is a beautiful Saturday here, but not for me because I have to work!!:( However, I am able to put this shimpaku on to prepare for the pruning. It will take me more than 7 days to finish working on it!
