Whats Going on in Smoke's Backyard?

Pruned back this bushy pyracantha to a manageable place. Now just have to wait for buds. Plenty of time left for me, winter does not hit until Feb, 12 and spring is on the 13th.
Stunning tree! Studying your branches...have one of my own. BVF offered up how one handles developing awhile back. And...I can grasp the direction I need to take. But...admiring yours for sure.

@Smoke ...thanks! Found them! Oh the darling little pretties...( the witch on Wizard of Oz voice...I think. Not many children's movies I watched as a kid. And I never got through that one, flying monkeys...who does that to a kid!?! )

All are stunning...

All of them in their pots are stunning. Two stood out more...to me though. Maybe it was the pot combo.

This one is mooning the world. LOVE IT! What attitude in a tiny tree! You did exceptional Al!

The top one is in a Sonny Boggs pot and the blue pot is by Bunzun
Ahhh I've been an admirer of Sonny's work...custom a pot for me too. Bunzun...I'm tired...the name sort of clicks. If you ever get tired of one...let me know...maybe we could work out a deal. I appreciate your sharing for us to appreciate and learn.

On page 18 I repotted this maple into its first pot. I took what I consider a pretty good photo.

This is the update with leaves. Tree is 11 inches tall and 6 inches across the base. Working on moving the apex about 1.5 inches to the left.

I like it, I kinda want to see a little more closure in the front though.

That is a good photo. Its tough to tell the size of the tree. It looks much bigger than it is. Probably never heard that before, right Al. :D

That's an interesting observation. Put a tree on a table with 20 people and ten will say it needs more closure on the front and ten will say it needs to be opened up to see the trunk.

Who's correct? Makes my head hurt thinking about it....so I don't.

I think the "closure" will occur naturally as the branches age and thicken and you continue developing the secondary and tertiary ramification. I think it looks good, but know it will look better.
btw, I'm 1 of the 10 who say more closure, and I think I'm right..... :p
