Picked some aggregate from between the planks of the deck before taking a group photo.
6 procumbens from a starter pack of established 2" cuttings 2016.
The bottom right one is sporting an eventual sacrificial air layer or rubbish for the burn pile.
I would rather start a new nursery stock than to fuss with a procumbens layer. We'll see.

Take your kids to work day!

Undeveloped Poinsettia project on the left, magic carpet spirea on the right.
Poinsettia is staying for awhile to see if I pay better attention to it here and the spirea is coming home EOD.

Planted about 150 BCs in the swamp.
Did a couple graft on a BC knee. If that takes, the knee will be collected.
Collected a big twin trunk BC.
Pics already posted in other threads.
How long did that take? Are you taking all your cuttings & replanting those? The 150 number has my head spinning. :)

About 2.5 hours for the 30” seedlings. Each takes a 16” deep jab with my root slayer. A few wiggles forward and back. Then I drop is the seedling and pull the blade up. Another jab near the previous jab then a push toward the seedling to close the hole and I am done.

You must do BCs full time :)

@Bonsai Forest Cheers. I had to move a few others to group them up.
Thinking about cutting Alpha in half. After having it 24 yrs, that has me stewing ya know?

Wow. Seedlings nice! I love seeing your BC posts. Root Slayer sounds like a Heavy Metal bonsai band. :) Off to google that.

The way I figure, we’re not getting any younger and taper takes time. I’d say chop that tree, optimize its recovery, and enjoy what it shows you.

I considered it 4 yrs ago.
I can be patient, but like you said, we ain't gettin any younger.
Thing is, I'd like to repot it next year.

What a beauty. Which new potential style compels you the most?

Also, I see you’re a juniper lover (Procumbens is my favorite so far, cryptomeria black dragon second) and extremely skilled in its care. I want to share this article with you on Junipers from Mirai:

Thanks for the article. I'll keep that bookmarked.

This hinoki has sat back here for 2 years. It's the most protected area of my property, and the least direct Sun on the N side of our home. Only issue is that it is a Lynns Golden which needs more Sun to gring out the golden colour and in bad need of weeding and potting up or planted.

@Cajunrider @Bonsai Forest @Japonicus @Michigan Tree Murderer @Underdog @hampton .. Forgetting where you are?
You owe this thread pictures!

If you want to chat, go to the teahouse. Here we wanna see what you did today!

I decided to wire out a white pine that I 'rescued' from a shelve at a friends place.

My apologies! Booked a Cryptomeria BD, spent time with some Maples, and observed crotch growth and planned alternate pruning for future wiring. Also acquired a chopstick for future use (will get wooden ones and sand them down with 120 grit)
