What did you do today? Show us Pic Required

100% I’m going to learn how to make this and accomplish it.

Do the roots run down the length of the deadwood (that valley looking structure) to plant into soil? I’ve seen rock planting. Is this a similar concept? I’m fascinated with deadwood compositions. Can you explain how that works?

I chose to ask him about his project and he was happy to share and educate. If you have a problem with me asking him about his project instead of reading something else, that is your personal problem.

You have nothing to teach except who not to be.

@Bonsai Forest , @Underdog was referring to the intent and purpose of this thread is to be a show and tell sort of thread. The "price to post" is expected to be a picture of what you did today. There is nothing wrong with you asking questions about things, but in this thread a picture should be included.

I personally don't have an issue with a post here and there without a picture, but after a certain point it detracts from the intent of the thread.

I digress to what I did today....well actually I did this two days ago. The picture I wanted to upload of what I did today didn't transfer to my phone and I am currently too lazy to fetch it.

On this 'Lemon Twist' Hinoki I removed oddly vigorous growth and noticed the bark was splitting. So I ended up chasing the dead wood. I removed a lot of rotting bark from the soil line. I still have to actually trim the tree and get it set up for next year.

I watched the meteor shower last night and attempted to capture them falling. I live in an area with some light pollution (didnt help that a parking lot that is normally dark left their lights on) and there was a thin layer of clouds. Needless to say, I didn't get to see it in its full glory. I got to see some pretty awesomely bright meteors, but I only managed to capture the ones I didn't see with my own eyes. The picture is unedited currently. This is one of my best ones of the night with two meteors captured.

My bad @Bonsai Forest. You are showing what you did today... Type. 100 posts in the last week... Your trees must be fabulous by now but I couldn't find any pictures of them.

You have nothing to teach except who not to be.

Put me on ignore.

I'm about to repot some tropical plants today. IMG_20230814_103515698_HDR.jpgIMG_20230814_104300112_HDR.jpgIMG_20230814_104424742_HDR.jpg
I don't know why. I don't even like tropical plants.

Come on. If you post in this thread, post a picture of what you did today (recently) on bonsai. It is not that hard.
This thread has been going for almost 100 pages without a real issue.

Play the game or do not post here. Plenty of open chat threads on the site to go.

Started recording a video on how to be a better bonsai beginner / which mistakes to avoid. Like.. Buy suitable material

He was being a jerk for the sake of being one.

Got some new pots for the growing clan in the fall. One from Paul Olson, two from Joshua Jeram, and one from an unnamed artist from Japan (unglazed with a splash of blue). I really like the one with the splash of blue...

What’s the style of the one on the far left called? I’ve seen some pots like that. It’s really cool looking. They’re all beautiful, but I really like that one (pic added, sorry)

I spend my weekend building a tsukubai, just need to find the right stones for the outer part and fill the inside with pebbles
All in it costs less than 50$
I had the extra concrete for the basin but anything like a nice bowl works too

I also went way overboard with the pump so it can be made cheaper

That's my favorite too. It is more like a dish than a pot. Has a drain hole but the elevated back gives it character. They call it a planter:
