I trimmed this Hinkoi Cypress 'Alaska' to thin out the foliage and remove problem branches. I really like the natural chaotic nature of the branch growth on this cultivar.

First time in probably a year since I last touched this tree. I plan to repot this in bonsai substrate from nursery soil and attempt an airlayer somewhere near the top. It has some interesting branching that would be a shame to just cut off. I'll put some wire on the branches tomorrow to get better spacing and positions of the branches.

Came home from a few days at the lake and did a tree death check. All good. Sorry no picture, again having a beer. (Still on vacation!!)
Nice! I’ll post for both of us! I sat with the tree in a deep think about wiring up into literati. I’ve honestly landed on 4 different styles. Also, doggo got a Summer pruning today.

Put up an extension of the shade tent, so the walking up maples will be protected from direct sun and wind. 3 or 4 hours work, including finding and cutting down the bamboo with the right thickness and length.

Very cool being able to find bamboo to cut down locally, and it looks great.
