Virginiana grey owl

I missed all of this LOL

@sorce:
I can't remember lol, they revert easier than shimpaku but less so than itoigawa. the tree in this thread only reverted once(first styling) and we really cut back hard on it then. since then I've methodically cut out all the juvenile inner growth that shows no real growth in spring, in favor of the adult on the ends. as soon as they get enough light on the inner branches they seem to back bud adult foliage that grows nice and fast, you can style those the next year already. do not pinch or cut out the juvenile foliage that has strong growing tips, they will go back to adult foliage in a few years.

@Vin :
i can see the trunk line in the middle one. I think that maybe the greys will be a bit less vigorous than the species ? I'm only speculating though. I really like the one on the left. I see a nice shohin trunk in there :D

best regards

I think it's tightening up real nice, very nice tree! Elegantly styled. Could we get another image with the entire tree and pot?

No rush for a ceramic pot, just wanna see the whole thing with a scale reference :) good work for something other than shimpaku. And judging by the images at the beginning of the thread,it's come a long way! Nicely documented progression

I'm lost too. Due dates are for pregnancies and EBAY orders not bonsai.

due date? went well with?
Here:
PS. Adele still dictates how she wants it styled, so I do most of the wiring, she helps thinning and trimming and she sets the branches the way she wants, but I think I want to do all of the work this time around so she can chillax,she can dictate from a chair in the shade hahaha, she's due 14 June 2016 and I'm over protective atm :) it's a girl btw

Okay it is after the due date;
dang the trees for a few.
Hope everything went well.
Photos of the little one would
be a nice change.
OOOOOPS!!!

Thanks @ColinFraser

Hi @armetisius

Herman,
You just had a child; you just had a girl child;
you really must get quicker on the pick up.
Don't worry; if you survive the "terrible twos",
& the "why?" phase, you will think you've become
a world class psychic.
Good to hear all went well and that is a lovely
name. Blessings on you and yours. m.

Now it makes sense. Just remember, when telling a joke or an amusing story it is vital to include all the working parts. Otherwise it becomes like dissecting frogs, in the end you have all the parts but nothing works anymore.

Congratulations by the way.

Congrats! I'm sure you'll have her using bonsai shears in no time at all. :)

Thank you guys :D

the Why phase drains me of energy completely and I enter a vegetative state where i reply automatically. 2-6 years is hell on earth but so important for development.

I am training a small grey owl for her, if and when she pics up the hobby for her own sake she can have it

best regards

Congrats Herman!

Mine has been on a 5 year..."I hate you" phase! It's way worse than "why".

It coincides with the 30-40 year old phase...which also blows.

Blows like a poison arrow dart in little boys' necks!;)
