I can't remember lol, they revert easier than shimpaku but less so than itoigawa. the tree in this thread only reverted once(first styling) and we really cut back hard on it then. since then I've methodically cut out all the juvenile inner growth that shows no real growth in spring, in favor of the adult on the ends. as soon as they get enough light on the inner branches they seem to back bud adult foliage that grows nice and fast, you can style those the next year already. do not pinch or cut out the juvenile foliage that has strong growing tips, they will go back to adult foliage in a few years.

i can see the trunk line in the middle one. I think that maybe the greys will be a bit less vigorous than the species ? I'm only speculating though. I really like the one on the left. I see a nice shohin trunk in there
