trunk splitting - lets give it a go...

almost everything died or is dying....
moral of the story: don't try this at home
( unless you live in a tropical jungle)
My trunk splits are all alive. The BCs look really good. The Mayhaw is growing slowly though. I haven't seen much healing on the Mayhaw. Next spring I will remove the wedges on all the split trees.

Reduction trunk split for better taper?
I am thinking about drilling out the top of a tree, then cut out inverse triangles slices from the top. Then I will squeeze the remaining parts back together to form a good taper. Doable with BCs? I tried to reduce an inverse taper using trunk split with Rainbow eucalyptus and failed miserably.
Works just fine, used this process on an ezo spruce with great results. process was suggested by David Degroot during a workshop.

Hahaha im just kidding folks:D:eek:
What doesn't kill me makes me stronger.

You know the trunk now has taper
Split and all wrapped
You know I dream of taper
And do the top I want
You think you got the best of me
Think you've had the last laugh
Bet you think that everything good is gone
Think you left me with a straight stick
Think that I'd come running back
Baby you don't know me, 'cause you're dead wrong
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Wrapped a little tighter
Doesn't mean I'm dead when I'm split inside
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
The bark a little lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over 'cause I'm chopped
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Have a better taper
Doesn't mean I'm chunky when I'm chopped
