Shut the whole damn country down!

There‘s clearly no study which shows he has a stake, it was a play on Michael’s post. Type in ‘Trump’ and ’Sanofi’ (the french company that makes it). Or don’t. He’s already make your choice for you.
Specious. Actually, less than specious but I don't think there's a word for that. He also has a small interest in hotels, golf courses, resorts, et al that are eating shit because of the quarantine, but I suppose that's not a negative trade off? I'm going out on a limb here, but since the drugs are off patent since maybe ~50 years, that every chemical and drug company in the world can make this generic drug. And so, yes, he is hawking a generic drug in hopes that his investment in Sanofi, which probably has not manufactured a generic drug in-house for a billion years will be shutting down a production line of one of their patented drugs and hopping on this one to take advantage of the market edge that Trump has provided. I'm convinced, too. Really. I can't thank you enough for this enlightenment. Really.

Listen to Fauci. I guarantee you he's looking at ALL the data from around the world. When he says it works, then it works.

"There is not always time for double blind trials. They will come later............but if you where on your death bed with Covid 19 what would you ask for this or an ice cream?"

This is panic. This is not helpful. Every patient will be treated to the best ability of their hospital and doctor. You asking for a specific treatment is not doing you any good. Ask to join one of the clinical trials instead.

One of the most insane things about the drug industry in recent years is advertising direct to consumers for prescription drugs. Your average consumer does not have the data, nor the ability to interpret the data, on new drugs. Yet people go in and ask for a specific treatment, not really knowing if it's appropriate for them. All this advertising does it put more pressure on docs to prescribe something that might not be in your best interests. Oh, and it also drives up the price of the drug.
Once again I point out that in 500 words you didn't answer the question even though you quoted the whole question. In the dictionary, next to word prevaricate, there should be a picture of you.🌭 (Sorry, that's as close to a salami as I could find)

Sure I did. "what would you ask for, this or an icecream cone?" I said, volunteer for a clinical trial. That's what I'd do.

Not that any of the numbnuts koolaid drinkers will, but this is worth the time to read. It's mainstream media and probably not hyperventilated enough for the koolaid folks..

The hype behind this drug is hype, the same "use it now, because we ain't got nuttin else" argument is used. The original authors of the paper that kicked all this "miracle cure backed by studies" crappola off a few weeks ago falsified their credentials

I stand corrected, you'd look death in the eye and spit in his face...

And another interesting story about one of the studies that "proves" this works. The study's author has a history of falsifying data...

Falsified or not, most people touting hydroxychloroquine in the media are cherry picking the positive data and ignoring the negative data, at least according to Fauci. Last time I heard him opine about it, he said the data he's seen are mixed and he's waiting on larger, well controlled studies.

Fortunately it is comepltely fine to use. No know side-effects whatsoever. So great as a profilaxis, even if it is just for peace of mind when non infected. Right?

there have apparently been several cases of heart failure associated with the use of this drug against coronarivus. The disease already puts stress on cardio, which is one reason why older circulatory system compromised victims have issues, from what I've read. Unbridled use of this in patients with undiagnosed heart disease would seem to be a big problem, but I'm certainly no doctor.

I understand he's a direct descendant of General George McClellan, and with any luck he'll get promoted soon.

It really seems like there is a relatively vocal group of people who are in serious competition to win a Darwin Award.
Ironically, many of them don’t believe in Darwinian evolutionary theory.
I don’t understand, but I’ve never really been into most organized team sports.

Aanndd.. That is not a problem? A president having commercial interests ?
Odd. I thought there were rules against those mixed interest for the leaders of the USA.

Well, well, well, whatever : are the ones who bragged about "shaking hands with everybody" to be truststed ?...

I mean if Bojo or Bolsonaro or Trumpo think it's fine for them, perhaps they should have had a thought for their fellow citizens.

There was a communist playwright who said something like, approximately : "Those who don't know are just stupid, those who know and don't do anything are criminals".

I think that at least 2 thirds of the people I mentioned above are stupid, not sure about the proportion of them who will realize they've been criminals : they not only spread the virus by their childish eagerness to "rule" their country, but they transmitted potential death to the cretins that believed in them.

Maybe it's a cynical plan (for Bolsonaro, I do think it is, he's proven to be even more racist than the others) : let the savages die. Just like when the white men gave contaminated blankets to indigenous peoples so they could die of smallpox.

So, OK, let's pray : the meek shall inherit (the shit), and we'll be saved:

Will that change after the crisis is over ?

I doubt it. I mean, not only in the US, but here and everywhere too. it's funny (I mean, no, it isn't at all) to see how religious nations (the US evangelists supporting D. Trumper, the Talibans, the Iranian shiites, the catholic dictators of Latin america, the Polish and Hungarian governments, etc.) are tramping on people's rights.

As for the US, you'll have elections in November 2021 won't you ? I'm curious to see how it turns out....

2020. Assuming we don't get martial law.

It used to be, "Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel.", but now it's "Yelling racism is the last refuge of the scoundrel."

When you don't really have a cogent argument, pull out your list of haters and blame them. Call them names, that'll convince everybody that you have a serious grasp of the subject, especially those on your list. I regret how long it took for hydroxychloroquine to take hold, -I had no idea how the medical upper muckimucks would resist re-purposing something that has a 70 year history, but that's life, or death as it were. You take the death rate down to nominal and Wuhan is no big deal. That's where we will be by Friday, and I expect it's time to shelter-in-place for the elderly and people with problematic medical histories, and all others may return to life as usual with assurance that they may have hydroxychloroquine Rx'd at the first sign of the disease. Hurrah for Trump!! I bet AlainK will be lobbying Parliament to re-name a certain landmark the "Arc d'Trump! Eh, Francois?

I don't understand what you mean.
I really can't see the point to a reference to the "Arc de Triomphe". I like arguing with people, but when what they say makes sense, even when I don't agree. But here, it just makes no sense at all. Like:

Forsoothhe! will be lobbying Congress to re-name a certain landmark the "Mount Rushmore! Eh, Jeff?

???
