No one freak out by the brutal cold that will be here in a few days

Nothing I can do about the cold from here. Everything was well watered before I left. If I were home I'd probably mist everything with a sprayer to protect the buds and branches from drying out.

I found a better real snow alternative to the fake snow machines and it's a lot more affordable! https://a.co/d/6aMMJvs
But if you really want a good insulator and you can keep it from blowing away perlite works well

Not gonna' lie, I kind of hate you a little. ;) Enjoy. I'm sure you'll have plenty winter left when you get back home.
Dragging the bragging lol.

I agree. Hoping my car starts & my trees live while @shohin_branches is shohin off. 😂

Have fun @shohin_branches just jealous.

I missed two blizzards in 2022.

@Cajunrider Uncle, I haven't seen you posting for last few days. How are you doing? The forecast seems to have more snow in your area than Houston. Hope everything is ok with you. Hope you are just busy moving trees and building the shelter for them that you don't have time to post.
Except for a bougie, your water jasmin, and a tamarind plus my grand baby plumeria in the garage, everything else is left alone to deal with the cold.

Too much travel lately. I am trying to catch up with work. I hope you are ok with all this cold.

Here we go!

I have my less hardy trees in the garage and the hardy stuffed is mulched in against the North facing wall of my barn (and currently buried in snow). The stuff outside has been frozen solid for weeks, but I have managed to water it all during the couple of days we’ve had in the high 30’s. It’s mostly super hardy natives— American Larch, Eastern White Cedar, Ponderosa Pine, Crabapple, Quince. I do have one Japanese Red Pine outside buried with all the hardy natives, and I think it’s the riskiest tree out there, but it’s in a huge 15 or 20 or gal nursery can so hopefully it’s alright. It saw 5F last winter just sitting on the ground and was fine.

I set them up for success as best I could, now I wait and see.

I can't help but wonder, what does an alligator do to survive when the swamp freezes over?
Weird things happen when tropical and semi-tropical places freeze. Whenever central or south Florida freeze, we hear about iguanas falling out of trees.

-8 here this early morning, but 35 in the greenhouse, 40 on the soil probe and 57% humidity, so my system is working well. Going to have to water though, as it does dry the soil out faster with the bottom heat.
Hope you all got some snow to insulate your outside trees.
