No one freak out by the brutal cold that will be here in a few days

We still have snow on the ground from the big snow 2 weeks ago, which is really unusual. The temps have stayed well below freezing and I fear for my garage trees, fingers crossed. We are supposed to warm up starting Saturday and see some temps in the 40's. I'm ready for spring....

Here in East Tennessee, near Knoxville, we have just gone above freezing for the first time in at least 5 days, with consecutive nights in the low teens and a low of 9 F yesterday. I have munched, covered with plastic, and broken my back to drag stuff into my unheated garage, where, according to my car, the temperature went down Tuesday night to 36. Amid all this worry, I present you with a picture just now of some collards I got for a buck per six pack, forgot to plant, tossed in one of my growing tanks last fall still in their six pack container.

I think there's hope my trees will all survive the polar blast. 🤣🤣🤣

I see life like this in my yard and that give me confidence in leaving most of my trees out during the cold. We get down to the low single digits and have days we also do not get above freezing, but yet my rose bushes still have at least 1/3 of their leaves, herbs survive in raised garden as well as many other plants you would not expect to survive this type of cold. I still put some trees in the garage but nothing like last year.

3 weeks in a row of any cold weather is not normal for this part of Florida. I may as well order some apricots.
Tonight will be nasty again and tomorrow warm enough to assess damage. Hopefully real sunlight.

You got space on the bench for a Japanese Larch ? 😂

I have yet to bring in any of my Tropicals inside this year. By now the killing cold has not come here. I have had a few mid 30' here but nothing lower than 36'. Some years it has been in the high 20,s. This year I lucked out.
As a matter of fact , I can hear frogs chirping because we had about 4 inches of rain.

Another morning in the teens later this week. This is after several days of close to 80. I'll be repotting a few trees this weekend so I will likely be shuffling trees between the garden and garage for the next couple of months.

I'm about to shovel for the 2nd time in 3 days, and lots more snow and sub zero temperatures for the rest of the coming week. We haven't had a thaw at all this winter. I'm petitioning to move back to GA!
Can't blame you at all! As I've gotten old, my tolerance for the real cold has just about disappeared. Atlanta is about as far north as I will ever live.
