No one freak out by the brutal cold that will be here in a few days

No garage unfortunately. So I'm keeping them next to the fireplace.
Not great. You don't want to wake them up early or they won't get enough dormant time to be healthy in the spring. It'll be risky putting them back outside after a couple days inside. Another frost after waking up could cause serious damage, or kill them.

Everything is on the ground and mulched in. I watered well before mulching and it has rained a number of times. And now we got a snow cover.

2F outside here this morning, 34 air temp in the storage house, probe is reading 43, so all good. Our coldest will be tonight and Tues overnight, getting around -10. I have programmed the lighting to come on during the coldest overnight hours just for these couple nights, it does add a few degrees. The heater is keeping up without being on all the time, so it's doing well so far.

The woman who stays with my mother in law when we're gone just flipped the floor heater on for me. I'm not concerned about current temps in the cold room but want to stay ahead of the cold.
Yeah, it's harder to keep up if you get behind. I only have problems in windy conditions.

Hmmm. Would a shed work? I have one in my backyard. I just figured it would be too cold!

Make me want to go outside and crank up my radiator heat another notch in the shed and put one in the garage. I know myself... I will brace the low 30s and do that some time later today. At first I was thinking of leaving these outside as they forecast the low temp will be around 24.

Then they changed the low to 14 on Wednesday morning.... Now I a smaller number of trees outside to see test how low they can handle - crabapple, Chinese quince, trident maple, Japanese maple, gingko, Japanese quince, Texas Persimmon, bald cypress, Japanese black pine,

They aren't anything yet but they many have been with me for decades. Don't want to lose any due to a cold snap.... if I still can move them.... that is what drive me.

Does it have any light coming in (window)? If you have electrical to put a light source then it could work for most conifers...

Calling for up to a foot of snow at 13F here in Louisiana tomorrow. Unheard of in these parts. My bald cypress' tub of water had a sheet of ice this morning over it. I expect it to be solid tomorrow if I don't move it.

Moved most of my trees into an unheated detached room of the house. The bigger yamadori in wood crates have to stay outside on the ground.

that's insane.

@Cajunrider Uncle, I haven't seen you posting for last few days. How are you doing? The forecast seems to have more snow in your area than Houston. Hope everything is ok with you. Hope you are just busy moving trees and building the shelter for them that you don't have time to post.
