No one freak out by the brutal cold that will be here in a few days

6 degrees for a high is just dumb.
I heartily agree! Our forecast high for tomorrow is 15 and windy. We usually go running on Sundays but I think we'll be hunkering in for the day. We've had snow on the ground for 2 weeks, which hasn't happened here for a long time. I don't have a thermometer in the garage, so not sure how cold the trees in there are getting.

Lows supposed to be under 10 degrees here the next 3-4 days ...All my trees are already mulched for winter ....Im probably just going to shovel snow on them and lower everything to the ground ..Thats it.

I'm very disappointed in the amount of snow we got. It was talked up as a decent storm, but 3 inches of light stuff is all we got. Not enough to really protect the trees much, so fingers crossed. 🤞

I made the mistake of commenting my concerns around my kids. My 6yo sone started crying because he was so worried all the trees were going to die. I had to comfort him, and tell him I was just exaggerating. I hope I'm right.

Probably too late at this point, but wondering if wrapping the pots in multiple layers of burlap or old blankets/towels would help shield them against the freeze.
Put them on the ground then add the covering. Blankets etc probably aren’t dense enough or have enough mass to help much but if that’s all you have…..bagged mulch or pine straw would be better. The key is to get them off the benches and on the ground to take advantage of less air circulation around the pot and the mass of relatively warmer earth.

I was up to 1am last night trying to get the washing machine thawed, only to discover that the door sensor on the dryer is broken.
So, I got stew in the oven to slow cook all day long, and now I'm about to wrest the TV remotes from the kids, turn on something loathsome to them, and then pass out on the couch all afternoon.

Down into the teen on Wednesday morning... make me wonder if I should move more trees into the garage.
My son lives in Houston and said you're expecting potentially 4-7 inches of snow down there on Tuesday. That's more than what we have up here  .

-7F here a few days. I'm glad @JudyB helped me get through my first arctic spell winter of 2013-14. It was so brutal it was the winter I lost the ryusen in my yard ...to being heavily decimated. Yet the cold greenhouse was fine. I do have a contractor heater...if we would lose power. So my ducks are gathered...and I'm not concerned.

I feel for ones...with trees outside. I hope we all see a viable spring with our collections.

Not a single non tropical bonsai inside. Same as it ever was. Tonight will be a balmy 14F and then right around 0F for three nights. Been through this before, no worries. Snowing right now and a little left from prior snow.

They keep lower the temp for Wednesday morning. Now they forecast the low will be 14 and 3 to 6 inches of snow. I caved and moved almost every into the garage. Due to my poor planning, I stuff so many in that I have no walk way and space for the heater. Sighhhh

Before I left on vacation I put my Japanese Black pine shohin and my Japanese beach in the cold frames at the collection I volunteer at because they had extra space. They stay around 40°F.

Turned off my temperature alarm for my shed since I can't do anything about it so why stress. My heater is going to make that electric bill pretty high. I'm too busy swimming with turtles.

I just got into bonsai for realsies and my area is being hit with a week of record low temps. I uprooted, divided, and potted up an invasive trash euonymus today into multiple bonsais. I needed it gone, but the curviness was calling to me. I figure it would probably be fine for this week, but why risk it if I have the room?
