finally took the dive on buying a tree... Wisteria FTW!

(I know it is not a semi cascade... But Google showed me that)

I see wisteria in round, square rectangular........ Pretty much anything but a slant.

I am very lost, but like that one.

In the end, that's all that matters; unless you plan on showing it.

I think that the color and the cascading flowers once it starts to flower again are absolutely correct for that pot. Take a look at Dan Robinsons trees in the Will Hiltz book - "Gnarly Branches, Ancient Trees". There are a number of great examples of this exact type of pot and color for semi cascading, and some even just straight informal upright in this same shape and type of tree. Take a look. I don't think with wisteria you should ever feel trapped by some rule or even a guideline for how it should be. The tree will be what it is, and the flowering image is the focal point. So go for what looks good with that.

The photographs in the Will Hiltz book about Dan R., are numbered by plates. There are quite a few of Dans trees in these beautiful old antique Chinese pots. They are not exactly like this one you were showing with a wisteria, but similar, and have a wide range of trees planted in them. I have to say they complement his trees very well.
You can ask Kei if he can find you something like that, he has a wide range of pots, and access to more.

I emailed him... I could spend like 10-12.000 yen. But I doubt it will be at that price.

man the pot still haunts me... I think I have the color (I like dark blue), but cannot get my mind set on a shape.

When do you do your final pruning of the year for this tree? I have one that I would like to begin training as future. Should I simply wait until the leaves fall off itself or can I still get some growth from it this late?

I may just make a new thread for it actually as I have serval question about the tree.

Final pruning for this year should have been done by now in MS. It's different for Max because of where he lives.

I want to cut shorter green or red lines and lean over. I have the pot already.

I want to chop to get major backbudding. Is winter a good time? (It doesn't freeze here, maybe 0°C at 5am for a couple of hours at most).

Green or red, what do you think?
