My first thought as well. You're probably thinking of fluting.

Repotted today in a Gyouzan pot. Seems to be a nice fit:

IMHO; a much better pot.
Nicely "echoes" the ripples
of the trunk. Very pleasant indeed.

It did last year, then it grew. It will be padded out again for the show.

Thanks. It is still wired from last year. If I need to replace any, I will, but it will be shown fully wired in September.
The guy wires and the #8 you can see around the first right Jin will be removed.
