A trident growing out in a bed-the only one I have that starts out red (really red, not just a tinge)

A trident that started producing fruit/seeds last year-it looks promising for this year as well.

And, a rough bark/arakawa Japanese maple. It produced fruit last year, but a frost killed them off. It’s looking like I won’t have that issue this time.

That's barking up fast! Do you have any pictures of the whole tree?

The whole tree is not much to look at. Scraggly thing. But I do have some rooted cuttings and an air layer in progress. I got it from a lady who runs a local maple nursery out of her yard. She liked it for the slightly different leaf form, though to me the bark seems a little different as well.

Never too much JM.......
That's what I keep telling people, but I think they're starting to question my mental fitness. I just counted and I have at least 140 different cultivars 😲

Luckily I finally found some land. Most of these will go in the ground as part of a large garden. Turns out 140 is not so many when spread across a few acres.

That my dream, one day I will try to find a land to have my japanese maples garden. Till now, I have "only" around 80 cultivars, but every year some new trees misteriously came in my collection ;)

Fair enough. If nothing else, looks like it has promising genetics for further propagation. Thanks for sharing!
