Finally repotted this boxwood out of a training pot. I know this pot is too big!!! I had a brain lapse when I was out of town visiting a bonsai nursery, and bought this pot for this and was a bit off. Oh well, room to grow. and this is what it was in……

I was actually given them by @milehigh_7 so I plan on giving them all away after they have rooted.

I drove for about 12 hours today. Up to Sacramento then down to San Jose for the San Jose Betsuin Bonsai Club Show tomorrow. Anyone else goin? I’m there assisting Sensei Nguy with his workshops and demo.

Our local club put on a display at the Wodonga Agricultural show today. 3 members contributed trees and time to promote bonsai and the club.

I had to spend the day so it was an opportunity to do some work on a few trees that really needed it.
Started on a small shimpaku

And here's most of what I chopped off to give you half an idea where it started.


Autumn is the time to thin out shoots and reduce old needles on JBP. I've been putting off doing this one because there's so many shoots to attend to.

It took a couple of breaks and a couple of hours but I finally got through most of the branches.


This twin trunk trident had a few long shoots I'd left on to strengthen the tree this summer.
A few snips and it's back in reasonable shape.

I guess it's been a good day when you've managed to promote bonsai and done some much needed work on a few trees.

I forget what I did last year besides physically removing the rust. Since my next door neighbor passed away his apple and peach trees no longer get sprayed. Plus I have planted a crabapple in my yard. Several of my procumbens under pressure.
So I'm cutting out what I can today.

Made the REpot! SHEESH !!!
I always expect Mr. Oak to be a repot bitch!
I wasn't wrong.
ROOTS !!! DENSE! I'm hoping the slightly larger pot will encourage OUTWARD root growth. I'm too old to fight another repot.

It was a mistake to put it in the oval mica pot.

They grow super fast. Much more aggressive than larger leaf varieties.

Trunk split on a small BC. It was put back in the grow bed. I will pull the tree out in 4 months and split it even more.

Cleaned up lots of things. Amongst which this rooted field maple cutting. Now some 6 years since rooting it.

Put wire on a couple mountain maples. Was able to rotate the left ones trunk pretty good.

Did I really put a Lilliput Jade in a Bunzan pot? Yes I did.

Repotted my starter juniper from its original pot into something larger that is more suitable for a cascade. Much different feel in a much more masculine pot.
