I waited a year and a half for this one to get healthy enough to style. It needs another couple years to tighten up. It could stand a couple more strands of wire but this is where I’m going to quit for today.

I got to see lilacs blooming in Michigan in October! Not every lilac bush in town is blooming but they're certainly are more than one. I'm not sure if the lilacs are stressed, but the certainly are confused. It sure is an unusual smell to be smelling in the Fall.

That really is CONFUSED!
They set new buds for flowers over summer, and hold them over winter. If they're blooming now, there may not be any in spring, and I'm not certain the relationship between blooming in spring and making new bud for the next year.

My landscape lilac usually blooms a little in the fall as well. Not nearly as much as in the spring.

Looked at this ficus religiosa I got from @19Mateo83
The only ficus I know that took initiative to bud and branch out low on the trunk all on its own. :)

These religiosas are quick to back bud and do well with crazy hard chops. So far, in my opinion, they are the toughest ficus… they grow crazy fast too. Glad to see yours doing great Kate!

That’s kinda what I was thinking.
