last-minute rewiring on my very first bonsai purchase, an American elm (I think?). proportionally long branches with no inner twigs or buds to work with meant either A) chop and regrow nearly every branch from scratch or B) twisty time. I opted for B) given the already somewhat-warped nature of trunk.
see last pic for original front - I really don't know what I saw in this tree when I acquired it last summer. I've rewired it twice since then, and it was just root-trimmed and repotted out of its original block of clay. having abused it enough, (there is such a thing as loving a bonsai to death, which is an unfortunate beginner tendency), this will sit untouched for the rest of the season to recover strength.

Attending the national earth and environmental sciences conference. Decided to skip the organized dinner, and go for a stroll through the gorgeous city of Utrecht instead. It was a wonderfull spring day, and after being locked in a conference hotel for 24 hours I was in need of actual air!

Looks like our cold mornings maybe over for a bit . I didn't want to continue repots until it warmed back up . So yesterday afternoon I did a little art work for the upcoming Garden Fair in spring . Will get back to repots today .

Repotted the skinny trident.
In order to get rid of the ugly KNOB that resulted from an unfortunate concave cut a while back.
But I forgot what my plan was so I didn't bury the damned knob....
so.... I got to ....REDO the entire repot.
Anndddd..... FINALLY found a Chinese restaurant that uses the proper BEAN SPROUTS instead of stupid NOODLES in their chow mein..
Annnndddd...... Got a wood planter box for partner cause she loves ...FLOWERS...
Annnddd......Became EXHAUSTED from the traffic to find the Chinese restaurant.....
Anndddd.... Repotted this ...WUTZIT..... that I've had for a while and have no idea what it is other than it will DRAW BLOOD if you poke it.
Thennnnn....after all that folderol, finally relaxed with my pipe to see if I would live til tomorrow.
Soooo..... to save time and energy, here is my TOMORROW POST:

BTW, I believe that's some sort of yucca. Does it grow flower stalks from the center in midsummer?

Wicked tree! I would probably cut the top back a bit to tidy it up. I found CM looks better when you keep trimming them back.

They're usually tugged, but some have a small motor to move a couple kilometers at a very slow pace.
With the record smashing droughts the past couple years, some of them needed to be craned though.

The one sitting on the picnic table was repotted last weekend. The one sitting on the ground was repotted last night. They’re both JWP. They were in heavy organic material but it did drain. I suspect they’ll like the new soil. Hope they do anyway.
I’ve got some big plans for these but they’re going to have to show me they want to live first.

Moved 3 Crabtree seedlings from root-bound pots to 6" pond baskets.
Also moved a Buxus rhombifolia from the yamadori soil I dug it from last October to a basket.
And move a small Schoodic pine from the nursery soil it arrived in back in early November to a basket.

Took out a bundle of sun blocking foliage.
Well, I really did.
Kudos to anyone who can see the difference. I sure as hell can't.
...................................Okay, enough for today. ....and that rock has to stay so the wind won't make me need a new pot.

Strap a rubber bungee cord over the top of the pot to hold it down to the table, less distracting lol.OOPS....... fergot...
