Thoughts on this Pot

Now is the time when he is still cheap. Later on he might be too expensive. :)
Haha! I do have quite a few people blowing my head up and a potter that is a bit crabby.
I have other real sources of income to depend on, this is fun for me and an outlet for my creativity.
I like the auctions because they only go for what they are worth to an individual, I can be comfortable knowing the price is right, they set it :)

Just stuck 26 in for glaze fire!
Had a glaze party last night, woke up on the floor covered in glazes, yes me and the floor.
Probably slopped a truck payment all over this batch!
Some pots having up to 6 layers and some of those being mixes.

It is SO HARD to get pics that will capture these glazes!
I have been trying to make time to use the good camera, Cannon 70D.
Here are some phone pics.
There is copper, platinum and gold in this glaze.image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Really good stuff, man. I like the earthy glazes a lot. I'd be curious to see what they look like after some use when the shine dulls a bit. I could imagine some neat pairings with conifers with glazes like that.

I am very interested to see how these heavy metal glazes patina, but I haven't had any long enough to test myself and I don't think any of them are being used.
Jack Bacus was one of our great potters who used heavy metals in glazes. He actually only lived an hour from me.
I have a lot of his pots and a friend has even more! They all patina like CRAZY!
One that I have I swear has turned from blackish to darker green over the years.

I have been working on a high frequency arc burner that will allow me to introduce very heavy minerals to the gas kiln along with very fast bursts of high heat. Making magnesium sulfate as it hits the wares is a great interest.

I would be VERY interested to see some Jack Bacus pots with some nice patina. You see them pop up from time to time, but it's fairly rare. It seems like most of his pottery has settled into collections and don't move around much. I'm also interested in the process you're talking about to introduce heavy minerals - of course this could be your trade secret, so please ignore if you'd rather not discuss. I need some of your glazed (and unglazed for that matter) pictures for my website! Keep up the good work!

@thams
Here is the Jack pot I talked about, this is my favorite of his pots. When I got it the black was fresh and shiny with no green in it. I believe the copper in the glaze is what is turning green.image.jpegimage.jpeg image.jpeg

I'm not sure that I will let go of this one.
At 22 X 15 X 3 1/2" deep it is very usable for me.
Oh, I see how it is; you get me all excited then BAMM! you drop the hammer. ;) It is a nice one for sure. Your work continues to just get better and better.
