It was in the 80's today which is super unusual but I'm not complaining. We're supposed to get some rain overnight and into tomorrow which we sorely need and the temps will be more normal for this time of year. The latest I have ever brought my trees in is Oct 31st. I've let them see some high 30's but they're close to the house. I'll probably spray them for bugs this weekend in preparation for when I have to bring them in.

I wasn't able to get to spraying like I wanted. I'll have to take them all back out again later when it warms up to do it.

This was last night about 1030. Before it refreshed, we had 100% chance of rain at 1100 and midnight. We didn't get enough rain to wet the streets.

Yeah, we get the same sort of thing around here. It's at a point where they just say "less than a tenth of an inch except higher in thunderstorms" so they don't have to be wrong every time.

More freezes on the way, and possibly snow, by the end of the week.
I have all the tropicals moved inside, but still need to bed down the rest. No extreme temps, so they should be safe until I can get to it. Lot's of rodents recently, so I'm trying to problem solved that.

I'm counting my blessings, though. In the last 5 months, there was a massive, horribly destructive wildfire followed by massive flooding 90 miles away, record-breaking flooding 70 miles north, and today, tornado activity and hail 70 miles east. Drought is bad, but these are worse.

Is it never windy there?
Certainly does. Just right now we have a really nice end-of-season calm phase. Easterly calms instead of westerly storms.
Temps dropped significantly overnight, all the roofs are white this morning. First 'real' surfacefrost of the season, after a few overnight sprinklings of ice on lawns a few weeks ago.

Nights getting colder now and also at day temperaturen starts dropping. Past weeks it was often still 18 celcius in the sun not much Rain and nice soft weather.
My hawthorns in the ground not even started to turn color yet

You say that for a bit of frost, and we have snow moving in for the rest of the week. Upward of 6 inches/15 cm over the next few days if it doesn't melt in between bouts.
That's a bit early! Michigan is setting record highs every other day. 75F today average is 53F. 🤷‍♂️ This time last year I had all my trees heeled into their winter spots. Everything is still on the bench despite getting 4 frosts already.

It's been raining here since Sunday night. We needed rain but not this much all at once. Lot's of creeks out of their banks and streets flooding in St.Louis.

Be safe. We've been on the wet side since Sunday night too.
But doesn't St Louis flood every other Tuesday anyway?🤔

That's a bit early!
Year before last I took the kids trick-or-treating in the snow, and last year I had to use the zeolite I'd bought for soil for its intended purpose as traction on icy sidewalks so trick-or-treaters didn't break their necks walking to my door.
I've seen first snows as early as September around here, and as late as December, though those are the extremes. Anything after the last half of October is pretty normal.
We've had a nice proper autumn the past few years, though. Often the first snow sneaks in when the trees are all still green.

And still coming down fast.
Schools are delayed today. Back in my day (anyone else feeling old this morning) they just put chains on the bus tires and ran like normal.

The view from my dad's field when I went to feed the horses this morning.

We've been upgraded to a winter storm warning. Upwards of 13 inches of snow possible between now and Saturday morning.

School is cancelled, which means work is cancelled.
And I never got around to renewing my small game license this year. 😖 Rabbit stew for a snow day sounds good.
Oh well.
