Sure. Can we wait till January because I'll be hiding in the house either way. :)
I'll be repotting about that time; our temps in January are likely to be only slightly cooler than yours are now. Also, I'm considering digging up my concord grape at that time. I think it might have better care in a pot.
Plus, it's got a fairly thick trunk.

What's the lowest temp you see yearly? I hate anything hotter than 90, IDK how y'all do it, and now all of a sudden I want to see a concord grape trunk. :)

I once unloaded a stock truck (tractor/trailer) wearing short sleeves and the temperature was -3° F near Christmas. But usually the lowest we see over winter is the upper teens a few times. Winter storm Goliath in '15 left us wondering how them Northerners manage winter at all (I've been snowed in with drifts covering cars a few times in Kansas and Colorado).
I can get a pic of the trunk later this week, probably tomorrow.

It has hit 45°F for the overnight low 3 days in a row.
We've had great daytime temps this week with good cloud cover and wonderful breeze in the trees.

We are however in extreme drought.
Expect a very dull Autumn.
Debby brought rain to the Eastern mountains, but not here.
Highs climbing back to mid to upper 90s this weekend through the extended forecast.

Yellow jackets are everywhere you go, hovering looking for moisture. I've burned out 2 nests, have trapped well over 100 and killed a bunch as well otherwise.

Bad news for the farmers etc...
I'm not familiar with the seasons in West Virginia, what makes it bad news for farmers?
2 yellow jacket traps after a week or so.

We have Tarantula Hawk Wasps. Ranked in the top 5 most painful insect stings in the world.

We also have yellow jackets and red jackets.
Sometimes it seems like most of the things in the desert are trying to bite, burn, dehydrate, sting, poke, or trip you. Rattlesnakes, 97 species of stinging insects, badgers, coyotes, bears, scorpions, javelina (collared peccary), dozens of species of cactus, and numerous other prickly plants. They all thrive in this kind of weather.

Drought in short.
The fact that we’re in severe drought already and no real rain in the forecast
for the foreseeable future.
This Summer has been one long heat wave with some sparse interruptions.
Gov. Justice has declared a state of emergency for the entire state.

Individual states have different criteria for a heat wave. We are 90F or higher
for 3 consecutive days. Evaporation from rain causes afternoon thunderstorms but no rain..
Cattle and hay for one instance - normally we have a 2nd hay cutting by now (even 3rd in wet years).
There’s only been one this year. Increases cost of both and no bounty, rather below average crops.

It should still be 100% humidity at 8:30 am or close there to. It is mid 80s RH.
Afternoons should be around 50 muggy percent RH, instead, yesterday it was 20%.

Those wasps do not amuse me. Glad we don’t have them yet.
I was push mowing the yard and ran over a yellow jacket nest about a month ago.
Got hit 8 or 9 times. The lady helping cut trees down in our yard got hit 4 times.
A local man died recently from a single yellow jacket sting and he was only mildly allergic.
Everybody has their threshold of how many stings they can tolerate until they become allergic.
With the drought, and recent trees cut down, they’re all out searching for moisture, and I’m out
there splitting wood with 12# sledge, wedges and a maul. I usually lose 4# each day I do this
in the heat, but I enjoy it and it keeps the lymph nodes flushed out.

FOrtunately we only have our annual neighbourhood party today/tonight..
Well, that's definitely not ideal!

@Japonicus yikes! I should really pay more attention to the rest of the world, I guess. I hadn't heard it was so bad. The weather you posted is a cooler week for us here. It's hard for me to recognize how different it is back east. I've only ever been past the Mississippi in the winter and early spring. You be sure to take care of yourself. We definitely don't want you telling any more stories about wasp attacks!

Wasps generally don't bother me and they're predatory to spider mites. Yellow jackets on the other hand stir up they're own trouble. They're more easily provoked and fly right under your feet and blame you for their territorial demeanor.
My brother nearly died from attack from a nest of hornets. His upper lip was on his nose and lower lip over his chin. Family doctor made a house call and gave him 2 shots that reversed the issue. Not many folks on here have witnessed a doctor on the job making a house call carrying his black doctors bag.

Heat index is over 100 here today in SD. That doesn't happen too often.
Next 10 days we are forecasted highs in the 70s or upper 60s with lows in the 50s.

Doesn't sound like a good day at all. I'm glad your brother was OK. Back in '98 or '99 I was working at a golf course and walked within about 10 yards of a large red wasp nest that I hadn't even noticed. Next thing I knew, my coworker was throwing darts at the back of my head and neck, and slapping me like crazy. Then he rushed me a short way into the nearby water hazard. Those buggers hit me at least 14 times. I was given the rest of the day off. The next day I came in with the biggest can of wasp killer I could find. Flooded the nest. Kept it as a souvenir for awhile. It was the size of a volleyball. Screenshot_20240825_133830_Weather.jpg
Got a nice cool down this week.

We're going to be getting rain!! Walked outside at 5:30 this morning, and I could just feel it. A cool breeze, high humidity, and the scent of moisture. Screenshot_20240827_063135_Weather.jpg
It's not in the forecast, but sometimes, wykyk.
Yesterday was comfortable compared to what we've been experiencing. Weekend looks AMAZING!

So...
...I wasn't entirely wrong. We did get a few sprinkles, but most of it evaporated before it hit the ground. 😕
But I choose to remain hopeful for the weekend.

First time since 2012 we officially hit or broke 100°F.

20240829_162057.jpg
Worst drought since the inception of this drought monitor/scale in year 2000. No dought longer than that.
99.5F now and may go up, same tomorrow.

Temps normalising this weekend and going into the normal dry season already dry.
