Max values today

Actual temp today 100.8°F.
With the lack of rain the grass is 60/40 crispy/green and RH pretty low for us at 35% late afternoon. With the low RH, heat index only reached 108 with a nice breeze.
I don't see how NY city stays in the 70s most all this week. 🤔 Must be hurricane Debby.

@Japonicus, yeah, definitely seems strange when West Virginia is hotter than the Chihuahua Desert. View attachment 561492
Goodness sakes too many Triple digits.
Our airports are where our official temps are recorded, and both are
up, on hills where it’s a little cooler typically. Officially Huntington hit 97 and Charleston 98.
Debby may not bring us rain except in the Eastern mountains where it will be good for
Fall tourism and good hardwood colours.

So the kids really wanted to break out the telescope and see the planets a couple weeks ago, but it didn't work into the schedule. So I promised them I'd plan it for this week, only mother nature isn't cooperating. Cloudy and rainy nights all week and into next. High of 70F today with a soft mist the whole time. School starts next week, so we're pretty much out of time too.😔

It's a nice break from the heat, but sucks for astronomy.

Soft sun and the smell of campfires. 😌

We're catching half the smoke from every wildfire in the nation that's north and west of here. Air quality warnings for all of Colorado state for the next week.

Have not popped in here in awhile.. could not believe just how many fires sprung up over the Rockies this summer. I mean, Cali has been bad the past 10 years (2017-2021 may have been the worst years), but this is something else. Hope everyone is safe out there.

Well.. 3 days of nice weather. And today the city posted a warning for extreme, hurrican-level stormfront passing over.

They were not joking nor mistaken. Dinner had JUST been harvested from the grill, fortunately.

Grill isn't dented so win win! :) I hope everything's okay.

yeah, few trees were blown down. Maybe some damage to bark which I will only see in some weeks. Should be cool and humid the next weeks which will aid in recovery of bruised bark.

Usually August is one of the hotter months in Michigan. Not so much this year, and it's been getting cool at night so lots of foggy morning drives to work. Check out this coming Tuesdays low. I was just talking with my neighbor who gives me some of his veggies & he mentioned the tomato turn out is low this year

I hope we get an Indian summer.
