Long sigh of relief! I honestly don't know how many years it's been since we had a July day where we didn't even reach 80°. It's been raining lightly since about 5am. Last night was a good moderate soaking shower with a little lightning around 10:30.
Thanks, @leatherback!

well, you did not have to send it back that quickly.
Wow, man, I wish you could catch a break. Rain is forecasted through tomorrow afternoon for us, so I will probably be lecturing anyone I hear complaining about the mud or mosquitoes over the next few days. It's not anything we have to contend with all year, so don't whine when we finally get our scarcest resource!

Ok, stepping down from my soapbox now.

No Worries. At least in Germany the drains work when we get a storm. Enschede however.. Every year there seems to be rainfall that the system cannot handle. And recently more frequently. Guess whose rain barrels and pond are still completely naturally filled mid-summer, without and salts accumulated in the pots this year.

campfires
These terrify me. Hang in there, and I wish you a few serious downpours..

We on the other hand seem to be flipping into summerly terriroties. Next week the rain seems to be drying up and temps come up to pleasant summerly ranges..

These fires are no joke. An entire village was destroyed a few weeks ago about 3 hours from me. Two people were killed in the blaze. Lightning was the determined cause. The fire was finally quenched by heavy rains that caused flash flooding and washed away many damaged structures. Because of the hydrophobic nature of ash, the rain did at least as much damage as it did good. The dark silver lining is that more people weren't killed.

Are the wild fires near you?

No, Colorado has actually had a very light fire season, at least compared to the recent past. These are mostly from states west of us. They're having a rough go it seems, at least enough so that we can catch the smoke from 1000 miles away.
Hang in there, and I wish you a few serious downpours..
No such luck in the forecast, which doesn't bode well for our fire outlook the rest of the season.

Never mind. About an hour after I posted that it started raining and kept up for a few hours. Not going to complain.

NOW the forecast says we're a tinder box.

That's rough! How bad are your trees, and your property overall? Those plains storms can really wreak havoc!

I don't have anything that isn't pre-bonsai as I just started bonsai last fall. A bunch tipped over but nothing was completely bare root. I just scooped the soil back in as best I could and we'll see.
Had some big cottonwood branches down but no damage to the house or anything. Doesn't sound like we got any hail.

I use wire and bungie cords to secure my pots to the bench. I'd have a bonsai soil gravel pathway in front of the benches if I didn't. I'm in the flat farm lands, with corn fields, sod farms, and a golf course all within a stones throw.

Hot one today, 91F with 30 minute thunderstorms to keep the humidity high.
