Mame contest idea

All rim of pot to top of tree
Keishi - 0 to 1 inch
Shito - 1 inch to 3 inch
Mame - 3 inch to 6 inch
Shohin - 6 inch to 8 inch
Kifu - 8 inch to 16 inch
Chuhin - 16 inch to 24 inch
Dai - 24 inch and larger

Maximum pot size is 4.5 inches in length across the front viewing side.
If only there was a stick by which to measure...:p

Dumb question...a Mame if a cascade, how is it measured? Still 6"? And how wide can it be assuming wider than 6". Can this be raw material one has already that had never been worked or wired? Or new.

Also...you mention in pot by next year...we in the North can't repot say...tropical until say...end of June into July. So...when will it need to have its new shoes? Trying to think of material needed to be chosen if shoes/pots need on by a certain time frame?

Would I be able to submit something I currently have in stock. That's not been really trained? It's not advanced material in my opinion. For instance I have some Shimapku cuttings from last year, an Elm collected and chopped last year. A trident maple cutting I grew from last year.

3 months to Find something.
Challenge 1.

Into pot by year one update.
Challenge 2.

Keeping it alive in pot...
With some development.
Challenge 3.

Too soon to pot...
Too dead...
Or too boring...
For lack of. Development.

Ehh. I'll play by whatever rules you come up with if I can stay qualified, and I'm sure you'll make it fair. Please allow lots of room for me to get creative ;). The cogs in my head have already been spinning. It would be preferable to not be like the big box challenge where you're expected to go out and buy stuff, because with smaller bonsai, one could grow his own stock from seed, cutting, or air layer. I'm trying not to add too much what I already have.

Thumbless -------- voice from the sunlight ------- get a Texas Ebony or Texas Persimmon ......................................
Use a nativeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I found a supplier for the TX Persimmon. It ain't cheap. It's interesting for sure. Now, that TX Ebony is appealing after I saw yours.

Interesting Thumbless, the Texas persimmon down here is from a mail service company that shipped out
of San Antonio, Texas in the 1980's.
The plant cost very little.
Same for the Texas Ebony.

Not my trees, K's. I just have more time to play on the laptop.
Remember, I just weed and water.
I don't have an artistic bone in my body, can't Design.
Good Day

Two of my entries are small, rooted cuttings, already in mame pots. Since I have one year until they need to be potted for the contest, I will re-pot them into training containers to speed up their development. I assume I am going about this correctly?
