Now that's an azalea... Really powerful trunk, haven't seen many azaleas like that at all.

Very cool Judy.
I like the fact it looks great without flowers.
If you want to get rid of the drum pot I would take it off of your hands.

I have seen them, but most are very large (tall) trees, and I'm trying to stay with medium stuff these days.
Would love to know the height n trunk width, verry impressive piece to start with
The nebari is about 10", it's 13"tall and about 20" wide and deep.

Thanks Mike, that is partially why I picked this variety to start with, they look good out of flowering season. I will let you know if I can find a new pot, I'm on the hunt, lol...

And to think at one time I thought I didn't like sumo trees....

Great find! Curious if it came from the Netherlands and how it was shipped :) Also, looking at various Japanese shows that involve Azalea I find they mainly show them in round clays and very plain ones at that. I of course do not have the experience Brain does but that is what I see.

A lot are grown to show flowers then relegated to the back until next year's flower show.
This one can take the front spot on any bench and hold it.
