How are you glazing? method, technique?

Waxing the bottoms and brushing.
Mostly just following the directions, 2-3 coats...

Some of my daughters pots to the right there!
That Lil one is raw!

Getting this thing to fire evenly and slowly all the way to cone 6 is going to be rough.

YTSGW!

Sorceman, take notes on application. Brushing is probably the most difficult method to apply evenly. So, learn from this firing. Get a magnifying glass and study good and bad spots and compare, to your notes.ie, heavy loaded brush or multi-strokes with light load or any variable you think of. Think consistency, consistency, consistency! Once you get farther along on the learning curve making repeatable outcomes is the goal.

Thanks @garywood !

Tonight I loaded it a little tighter...
With some stuff a little shy of bone dry so I ...

Notes...
Lid on high prop, peepholes open.
Starting somewhere around 4pm, I crawled the switches on going up about every 10 minutes, when I got to the 3rd up I turned off the bottom one...4 th up on second up off, etc ...then kinda random
I kept reading it around 200F and hovered for a while to water smoke.
When the steam stopped thouroughly I started the same as before.
Lid on low prop peepholes open for an hour start 5pm , second switch hour two.6pm
After 2 hours close the lid and bottom peephole.
3 switch hour 7pm
4 switch hour 8pm
5 switch 9pm and my

05 cone dropped the sitter at about 10:50.

So the bottom should be
06.

Maybe see in the morning...
Surely tomorrw afternoon!

Whats the trick to make sure your pit drains well?? Do you leave the inside totally flat? Or is there fall to the drainage holes?

No disrespect to the potter, but I might end up blowin' a drainage hole right thru the chop! Yikes!

Attempting perfection.

For high tie down psi and heavy handed cicle work. Good drainage.et

Sorce,

you can simply add more drainage holes. No need to interfere with the bottom of
the pot.

This is a 08 vitreous body [ why waste so much energy for cone 8 ]
glazed with a commercial glaze called - stonewash.
The pot has 5 drainage holes about this big [------------- ]

Surely tomorrw afternoon!

Bloody hell!

Maybe not!

Still 220F in the top!
Already lower at the bottom.

How sweet is that!

With an even more densely packed glaze load...
I can turn the switches back off from top down to evenly distributed what is seeming to be a right slow ass cool!

Thursday Fershursday!

The critique, Sorce ---------

your finishing has to become more professional.
The tops need to be level and crisp.
Look at the Chinese and Japanese work more closely.

The Praise -

very well done. Glad to see there were no ka booms in the kiln.

Were they supposed to be at cone 6 or so --------- vitreous ?

Did you use o6 glazes ?

Very happy to see you as the Sorcerous Potter.
[ He took clay and in breathing on it ............. brought forth homes for young trees ]
