Kilnin' Myshelf

View attachment 169556

My guy at work scored me a nice Shelving unit.

Getting Whorganized!

Vance's pot is still in that Styrofoam fish shipping box drying slower than I figured, right even, and God Damn I can't wait to fire it.

I commissoned
My daughter for some artwork.

Snapping switches

F,.....just slow all day till I gotta sleep.
Praying for really bad weather tomorrow!

They pushed the rain back till evening for tomorrow.

Had a peek and a probe.....

At 599F still....

I found my mistake!

Shouldn't have peeked Cuz I must leave in an hour....

And now I want to sit beside the kiln as it cools!

The Sorcery is Complete.

And so far......

Mother.....

Fucking........

Beautiful.

Who'd a thought Evenheat Kiln Inc out of Michigan would have had the forethought back in 1980 to make a spot right perfect to set up this here tablet for pictures.

Speaking of Michigan....

@Vance Wood them dark disks are your pot color...
Fired hot.
I'm likely to find variation lower, cooler.
We'll try and play goldilocks.

GSH!

Speaking of Gangsters!

Chicago wouldn't have ever been so gangster without the Detroit cars to tote the Tommy Guns in.

What day is it?

MONDAY TIL FRIDAY!
It helps the week fly by!

See you this afternoon!

@Mellow Mullet you want a peeky peek?
One done!

Still some figuring to do ......
But yours (your first one) came out useable (in a home setting) lol!
I think this was the third or fourth pot I did so it's a bit....

So....it turns out the bottom peephole cools my cones being open, and the entire kiln ended up hitting cone 7, and without a cone 8 to see bend I may have hit that too...2300F at a particular degree/hour.

Good...because I have to get this white stoneware to 7 or 8 to frost proof it for sure.

Bad. Cuz I had a lot of warpage and some shit stuck to the shelf above it it moved so much.

Good because I learned a lot!

Bad Cuz I wanted to do better.

Good Cuz reality is here!

Only two that are completely useless garbage!

Now that that is out of the way!

Really well done, man. I'm excited for you and your first firing. You get any accents fired? You've got my hand itching to get muddy...

Gotta go to baseball practice soon so I'll drop a few.

Getting a new phone soon so I can communicate again!

Please let me know what you think.

Whoa, I REALLY like that first one. The glaze settled in all the right places to really accent the contours of the piece. The glaze was a perfect match for the flowing lines of the pot. I'm sure you'll want to hold on to a lot of these, but if not...
