Kilnin' Myshelf

I looked into getting Godzilla tearing out of my skin a long time ago. When tattoos werent everywhere. Way back in time when I was 21 years old. Kind of glad I didn't kind of wish I had.
The best tats are the ones you know no one else will have. A tribal band on your arm? Don't waste my time lol

Jugg Town?
View attachment 167996

But most likely named for some ol' coot from the 1800's "affectionately" named Jugg......:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

hey @sorce don't Rube Goldberg this thing and mess your shit up. I'm actually thinking you could get pretty "good" at making containers, actually. Should be interesting. May I suggest simple, clean and efficient design. Perhaps keep the feet you come up with small and understated?

Good luck with your new toy and to a start of something that should lead to brighter days if you believe...;):p:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Lol pretty sure they weren't looking for jugs in that gif! Great old skit lol Schmidt's Gay beer lol

Some very nice pots Sorce.
Congrats. Good stuff

Barehanded fucking animal.... I picture you all tired at night after work all day like this guy, sorce.... Straight results only... no time for no shit ... Only resultsView attachment 169965
I was thinking whenever it was about how cool it is to look into a tiny hole at such heat.
This is sooooooo my shit!
I told you it is! Don't you remember?
Raku or pit fire!
... ...I would love to see you making open/pit firing pots.
I don't know why but as much as I read you I believe this is the technique which suits your personality more ....
And of course some really nice glazes you have succeeded in making, Sorce!
Keep on kneading and firing my friend. You will becoming better and better because you put passion and love in your hands.

Out of nowhere you start dropping some bomb ass pots. For your first few firings these look great. I am sure over time you can only improve.

I'd be interested in seeing a Sorce tutorial of you making some of these pots.

Also are taking any commissions? I'd love to own a pot from a bnut friend and tell people I knew the sorce before he became famous. :D

Sorcemissions!
Yeah!

I dunno if it's a secret, or if it is, if it's even possible to convey such an internal feeling....

There is very little useful information if searching for bonsai pot tutorials.

However, there is a wealth of information on every other aspect of pottery that should be devoured and applied.
I don't even wheel throw but I've sat thru the youtube hum of so many wheels, throwing bowls, mugs, plates,etc....
That I can almost tell which wheel is which by sound.
Learn a new tidbit everytime.

Mad demos.

Every country seems to have an ancient Potters town built on a clay deposit.
Each one has different methods, techniques, purposes.
Hundreds of years of hundreds of potters perfecting and innovating.

I am trying to harness all of that information.

Lotta good stuff from the dudes making clay monsters too...sculptures.
I am always thinking about how Bonsai pots are closer to sculptures than vessels.

A tutorial of thinking about other tutorials!

Clay is clay for sure. What it needs to go from earth to fired well can not vary, does not vary, across the globe.

All that should be adhered to.

It's the internals like this one I learned from someone...

When the form of the piece and the Lip work well together...

Fail!20171204_214056.jpg

Day off!

I been had a hand wound of some sorts from a giant palm blister to fingertip slices from ductwork for near a friggin month!

Going to build some shit all day!

Still some figuring to do ......
But yours (your first one) came out useable (in a home setting) lol!
I think this was the third or fourth pot I did so it's a bit....
Rookie!

I definitely gotta conjure you up something nicer before these hit the mail.

Sorce

Actually, sorce, that is really nice!

Actually, sorce, that is really nice!

It is beautiful for what it is for us!
But it may not work with the intended elm.

It went thru what it went thru...(you'll see!)
And in keeping it absolutely real, you will receive it flaws and all.
This is excellent for me.
I'll do the Elm again.

Give me one more picture John.
Any tree.
What's shipping one more right?

I'll eventually need "top of head" selfies with them all!
Love that pic!

Thanks!

Turns out I must spend some time today inspecting and grading these pieces.

I'll put a legit "selling" thread up this week with honest prices.

In the mean time...
If you want anything make me an offer.
I will inspect that piece and tell you exactly it's level of usefullness, provide as many pictures, even a video if you like.

I can't assume who wants to collect what, so I won't hold anything back.

I will provide an accurate assessent and NOT accept offers that are too high.

I think @Carol 83 may be snatching up the Drippy Blue Flower Foot Bottom Accscade.
That is one of the Best, structurally sound, (must test for frost proof, numbers say it may be), and pretty.

There is only a fewish more that are in perfect condition.

So 3fers, 4fers, etc, can likely be had for much less than expected.

If no one offers me $50 for that little blue guy @thams likes by 4PM....(kinda steep on purpose, but that one is structurally sound with a few hours in!)
I'm going to give it to him!

Thank you.

My goal is to provide honest vessels for your beloved trees and excellent service.

Too bad ;)

Thank You Carol!

I'd love to get that thing in the mail today!

Let you find some of the nuances first!

@theone420 I totally got you! Well, half totally!
In order to NEVER get predictable results, I'm not taking the best notes....but when I get something similair, I'll notify you first.

Thank you for your support!

That would be awesome.

And you have inspired me to find my old high school projects from my ceramics class.

Found this one and drilled some drainage and wiring holes.

I have a question though. is it ok to have it glazed on the inside or should I grind the glaze down?

I ask because I also use dollar tree ceramic bowls for pots too. They seem ok but I wanted to get someone who might know a little about pots to give an answer.

Did you use a special kind of bit to drill the holes? I bought a nice bowl at a pottery shop in Branson, I would love to use as a pot. I asked at the store, if it would be safe to drill holes in it, and they said no?

These are seeming like a good package deal. Minor Flaws, but stand well. Dark for flower pop. Hidden pretty for admirers!_DSC0899[1].JPG

I used a diamond bit the first time but I have been using good old concrete bits and they seem to work better just start slow. I use my harbor freight drill press.

Great, thanks! We have a garage full of tools that don't see much use, good project for my husband.

@sorce did I win??!!?? Seriously though, if you didn't get your $50 offer, let me know what you want for it. I would love to plant some accent grass or something flowering in it.

I find it incredibly special to own a pot from someone's first firing. It's like being at the starting line to cheer someone on at the beginning of a life-long race.
