Do you read the news or just history books?

Promising to stay in office regardless of election results is just like being a.....

That was like two days ago.

Giving people healthcare that they never had seems pretty different.
 
He didn't promise to stay in office. There is a specific Constitutional transfer of the office temporarily to the speaker if the results of the election are unsettled, so anyone who misrepresents what he said or his intentions is a stupid or a liar. He INTENDS to see to it that the Democrats, who cheat in every election cycle don't steal this election. Ballot harvesting is cheating and Democrats are very good at it. I consider it treason.

People who say this think they're much more informed on the issue than they are. It wouldn't go to the speaker. It's more complicated than that. It would be a Democrat, but not Pelosi.
 
In the 70s, the situation was not that good in Belfast.

So Danny boy went to Canada to work as a lumberjack.

The boss gave him a chainsaw and said: "OK, in your contract, you have to cut 100 trees aday. If you don't cut 100 trees a day, you don't get paid,"

The kind of stories that the confectionner working at my uncle's bakery in New Ash Green, England would tell me in 1973. He also had other jokes like "how many Irismen does it take to change a light bulb?". Later, I found the French had the same jokes about the Belgians, and the Belgians the same jokes about the French (1). And when I went to other places, the locals had the same, or similar jokes about their neighbours, like the arab morrocans and the berber morroccans.

(1) That was mainly in the 1980s, it's been out of fashion these days. Well, I suppose so, I don't know what kind of jokes teenagers like these days, oh my, I'm an old man now...

We have a representative constitutional republic with some "democratic processes".

Democracy is what was in apartheid South Africa.....or Jim Crow America.
