Extended season starting trees indoors

@cmeg1 this time I divided the humic/fulvic at half dose. I will use only fulvic this weekend. Do you add any yucca to the foliar feed? I usually add it for the root drench. Right now I can say that the junipers are reacting faster than the pines, the "parsoni" (I think it is a parsoni) that I repotted this spring is showing new green growth on almost every tip, and the torulosa air-layer that was kinda stagnant and blah looks healthier. I'm probably going to do the hard cut on the pines this weekend, none is in refinement at this time, just looking for back budding so I can start selecting ramification and possibly new leaders.
The yucca is great as it breaks down the water molecule and actually make the water stick to the leaves….. especially helpful on the Pineneedles that are waxy………… 1/64 th teaspoon per gallon.

….best with a pure water for leaf washing…..
sorry if its a dumb question but how pure are we talking about? I can imagine tap water to leave residue on leaves? So like distilled water?

I'm asking for JBP for which I am already nervous about getting the leaves wet in case of fungus so thankyou for your help!

Reverse osmosis or store bought distilled…..only fresh rain…not stored…..the fulvic portion is very effective at transporting i to plant cells so a clean water source……my ro is between 0-10 ppm

Not to be sarcastic, but do trees in the wild need an umbrella to prevent fungus? Don't overthink it, let the trees be trees, the main issue is the balance of water/oxygen in the pot, unless you have rain 24/7/365 I wouldn't worry about water on the leaves.

THE SIBERIAN ELM IS RESTING YET AGAIN AND GETTING VIGOROUS.

I will let this remain as long as possible for good energy and brix.

3rd result from cutting back!

Lettin this happen does wonders for strength and good budding in the interior.88CA18A1-FE27-41B5-B993-31735FD50973.jpeg2E9D089B-2C0C-47FF-BA36-8BE100CED917.jpeg2625ED4F-FB7D-4FE4-AE3E-4FC6A199B9EE.jpeg

PINES COMING ALONG.

More and more of these.Developing fast albeit the 2 weeks of root starter fertilizer.

Pumping them with max co2…although light intensity is quite low yet. After settling these will develope very quickly.

Roots are just starting extend out the mini-blocks.
These will do well at a terrific start since no transplanting or pruning……makes a very marked improvement from the getgo…..thicker juvenile leaves and everything. They respond better to the co2 this way too.

THE INDOOR /OUTDOOR SIBERIAN ELM.

Every time I see the base I am tempted to start a bunch indoors………this is getting twiggy to.4293DD1A-7887-4AC4-9DB0-E8AD529BA79A.jpeg66A552ED-4DD8-450B-8C95-4C388350F444.jpegCBDFC98C-FA8F-436E-98D0-ED5ABCA80CF7.jpegBA5E368D-D775-4211-B1A8-96A3E205ACAF.jpeg9AEEF801-1D23-4576-81C8-47434E68C393.jpeg235DE6FC-5404-4FA6-B2FF-E9A8F00C2EDF.jpeg

FERTILIZING THESE WITH CO2

Giving the max…..nearly 1500 ppm!!!

Accurate reading ph meters are everything with this type of hydroponics…….weekly calibration at a minimum…..or risk total crop setbacks

Heat is on them too……..humidity was a little high as I just got done flooding the tray.

After settling I will ramp the lights up and these will really get growing.

I did increase some lighting today, but only to about 200-300 par.
Will inevitably be around 600-800 par.

@cmeg1 Japanese Red Pines please??? I don't know why but suddenly I want a few of them.

Are they vigorous?
I think they could grow strong as JBP, but the main focus on them in my point of view is aesthetics. Different bark, slender design, multi-flush, ability to keep in the lower portions of the US, vs the alpine pines.

OK SO LETS TRY THIS AGAIN!!!!*^#

Not the expected…….as we all know I lost over half the crop do to an AC unit not working as planned…brough the 350 that survived outdoors and grew the tried and true outdoors way.

They had zero co2 fertilization, but the color is good and they will be super next season.

Anyways…. By September 11th the weather will cool to around 80f or less and this grow fascility will be fine sealed up with co2 and cuttings.

I have started the process and also an experiment tray of Chinese Juniper seedlings!
Could be very nice..we’ll see.

I need good zelkova seed………the seeds to grow will be for sale eventually.

Here are the juniper and the very beginnings of pine seedling cuttings.

HERE ARE THE OUTDOOR GROWN 300 OR SO SURVIVORS!!

These will be awesome next season. They will have abundant branching…. Leaves seem high brix too.
They will set the winter terminal bud naturally with the rest of the season. They will grow bigtime next season.
Note the branching……mature leaves will fill in this month.

Wow, Juniper seedlings! I hear these take a year or more of stratification. Can you tell us more?
I've wondered if anyone was growing Juniper shimpaku from seed anywhere as I'm guessing the genetics of most stock are fairly homogeneous in the USA.

Yes,thanks. I’m excited to see how the Seedling Juniperus grow in my CO2 fertilize environment with the bii stimulants and the dutch hydro treatment. I usually get some extremely good results with Evergreens so we will see….. they took about 6 to 8 months of warm and cold stratification, and they all just started sprouting in the bag.
I could probably plant about 200 more, but being this is an experiment project I don’t want to waste the Japanese back Pine Seedling Cuttings opportunity in the grow facility..

Sir, if you were in the weed business, Mexican cartels would be out of job....
Believe it or not during my healthcare career pursuing, which I have since opted out of,( I should probably update my profile) I did work for a medical cannabis grower for several months as a cultivator…… it was very ,very fun. I did all this without using any at all……I am not an advocate of smoking or using it, because I cannot get good jobs with that habit.
And I would not have the very fine job that I love now, if I had that as one of my habitS.🙂

I gotta say growing it was fun though and very nice people!!!

OK, FINALLY THE WEATHER IS COOLING TO ALLOW A SEALED GROW HOUSE!!!

Getting these going…I planted about 350 Korean Hornbeam var. coreana.

And also getting the Black pine pre-cutttings going.

This will happen all quite quickly….. i’ll definitely have to use a little less CO2 so they don’t grow too darn fast……. I have a very long time to grow these.

After they get to and appreciable size, I can actually drop the lighting to minimal motherplant strength around 275 par and really just left the set and photosynthesize for months, and they will barely grow…… probably will be essential. I have a whole six months to grow these. It’s usually only a 14 week operation!!!!!!

The remainder of the table will be used for pine seeding cuttings…..another 20 flats!!
And also a tray or two of Star Magnolia…and some Zelkova for a freind.
