20200517_140956.jpgJust got done doing a little wiring on my stone pine. Did some pruning a while back and forgot to take pictures and post. Won't happen again. Since then I've gotten some new growth so I decided to give it a basic direction to head. Looked at pictures of mature trees and am trying to go with what the tree wants to do anyway, at least that's the plan. The rosemary unfortunately was a casualty probably of aggressive root pruning. Have yet to touch the juniper.

20200726_101705.jpg20200726_102030.jpglots of new growth on the stone pine. Some mature foliage with the juvenile. Didn't give it fertilizer till I thought the needles had hardened off to try to limit the length a little. Looks like it helped. I'm going to try cutting one of the mature growth candles and see what happens. Can't find too much information on this species as it pertains to bonsai, so I'm experimenting a little. Not looking too bad in general. Don't know how it's going to react to root reduction next spring.

The stone pine is actually coming along. Nice progress for only 11 months of work. Update the juniper too.
Thanks, I'll try to get some pictures of the juniper. Just took wire off that was starting to bite in and created a little shari at the top. This weekend I'm putting some wire back on and I'll take pictures then.

Alrighty then, I did some more pruning and wiring today, this time on the juniper. I'll probably end up shortening some of the branches a little more. When I showed a picture to my wife she hesitated for a second and then said "the top looks dead." 😒20201114_102218.jpg

20210104_203651.jpgit's a crappy nighttime picture, but I did a little wiring and I think it's starting to shape up a little.

Figured I'd do a spring update on my trees. The juniper didn't like the root work, but the stone pine didn't seem to mind. They both actually are shaping up a little so I'm hoping for the best. Summer update next.
