'Reiko'

The small flower with 'Reikou' as a parent. Too bad all flower edges seem to be fully dark purple. It is nice when this is stripey with both violet and purple.
I have a 'Beniko' as well with flower still closed. Hopefully, this one has the really nice patterns.

Why do have to live in the Netherlands? That's a beauty!

Have you ever seen a good 'Beniko'?

First picture could be brighter, but look at the pink, the reds, the violets (it should be two colour), and the yellow of the throat.
Not mine, source: http://naganosatsukien.blog66.fc2.com/
Might be that these are pictures specifically of the best Beniko that entered that satsuki workshop in a while.

I hope mine is similar. But the flower pillars on mine look purplish and too dark. Like Reiko, actually.
I will have to wait until they open. If it is not correct, I will regret not getting a second one.

But maybe you like the simplicity of 'Reiko'.
Like with many good and famous satsuki cultivars, there are several sports with different colours.
Yes, I believe these are rare in the US.

No, but that is stunning. Apparently I like bold rather that subtle. 🤷‍♀️

Which is why we like the outragous flowers of satsuki. Beniko is the red version of Reiko. So it is kind of the same azalea. But Beniko has two colours that both come in two shades, plus white centers, plus the yellow of the throat. Small flowers also. One of the best.
