@yashu Girard’s Crimson (Boudoir x Aladdin) x (Boudoir x Corporal). No satsuki in this one. Pete Gerard used satsuki only in a couple crosses that I could tell….Dorothy Woodworth and Renee Michelle. None named Girard —— — have any satsuki crossed directly
@penumbra Martha Hitchcock ( Mucronatum x Shinnyo no Tsuki) So an unknown cultivated over 300 years ago x a Satsuki

'Saishun'
So far looks as advertised. I want to try a 'Hanatsuzuri' x 'Saishun' cross. I would say that the 'Hanatsuzuri' blotch is more intense. 'Saishun' has less blue in the red. And the petals are rounded, more like a cup. Flower not completely opened yet and obscured by a leaf. But I have some petal blight. So I fear it will turn brown and spotty soon.
I am learning now that I need to spray both against aphids that sit at the base of the flower before it opens. And petal blight. Otherwise, I don't have good flowers in my polytunnel.
Alternatively, I put them in the car port where they are cool and shaded, but maybe the plants don't grow as much.

I have no problem with that. I view azaleas first as azaleas. Then I view some of them as potential for bonsai.

Yes! It is about 90% flower for me and the rest is growth habit and leaves.

Double flowers (hose in hose but also filled rose-type flowers) and rain is not a good combination. They get too heavy because they collect too much rain.
