Is that both red and purple in that flower?

Anyway, prediction says there will be a 30mm precipitation thunderstorm on Sunday. So between now and then should be the high point.
Maybe this flower will open more fully. And without the brown spots expanding.

Finally another 'Kozan' cutting that does well. I struggle growing 'Kozan'. I think one reason is the very dry summers.
I had more cuttings, but they died, including one of the original plants.
One cutting had chlorosis for 2 or 3 years, always struggling. Then it finally made it through that when I replanted it in the garden. It had 2 good years there. But this spring, it woke up too early, got hit by frost. And now I think it had some drought stress as well on top of that, even though there has been watering. That one may be dying.
I have another cutting that died back almost completely up to the base. But the base has been alive for a while but never growing a lot.
But this new cutting seems to do well. That said, if you notice, you see a dead branch at the base of this one as well, so it had a struggle in the past as well.

But for the Japanese, it apparently is one of the toughest azaleas they prefer for ancient bonsai. Makes me wonder...

North American Robin Hill azalea, very much in the maruba satsuki style.
Large ruffled flowers. Triploid nature gives it thick petals as well. This one is pale pink with stripes. I rate this plant highly.
Very evergreen and perfectly hardy in my climate. Small leaves, huge flowers. Good growth rate.

It’s nice to see all color combinations of a cultivar @Bob Hunter !

There are a couple azaleas I have and are posted here that are not the best for bonsai, at least a size bonsai I could grow in my lifetime! I suppose one could make a shoo-in and display only one of these blooms… that would be cool!

Here is one of these Kaho no Homare. Somewhat mussed up by the rain.
