I've changed my mind on the concept of blocking people on Facebook. Seth has convinced me that this is a good idea. I've got enough stress in my life these days than to deal with people like him. The negative waves have been coming out of me, as well. Time to clean out the wound that is my Facebook Friends List. I don't think I need people who are willing to make negative decisions using half-truths and rumors. Not when I'm trying to get my psyche in order.

At the risk of re-engaging the gossip mill: Has anything come out publicly since Seth Nelson's post on June 27 and Adam Lavigne's post on June 28 (the one where he agreed to step down from his board posts)?
Preferably from one of the principles (Juan, Adam, ABS, BSF). I'm trying to avoid opinions/speculation (I have plenty enough of both of those on my own).
I'm hoping that after a week or so since the storm started to break, cooler heads may have prevailed enough to get some things sorted out.

Things have gone quiet. I've been told the ABS may be releasing a statement at some point, but I really doubt it would contain any of the kind of details that people want to see. Adam resigned from board positions in the ABS and Bonsai Societies of Florida. I don't know about anyone else.

If he's so terrible why do they stay on his fb page? Why consider him a friend if he is a villainous person. Those with the harshest words are still his friends??? It's strange at best.

Would it have killed them to toss in a "we have no tolerance for racism/etc." type sentence? Because people who believe that Adam is a racist* are just gonna see this as "CFBC is racist/racist-sympathizing."

I don't know what to think so I guess I will just be Switzerland. An old guy once told me, "Eat the fish and spit out the bones." As long as I learn from Adam's blog I'll still read it. I'll not be taking sides unless something clear cut comes to light (which to my knowledge it has not). I know Adam has always been kind and helpful when I have sent him messages and he is a good writer.
I also know a person close to the story (that I have no dealings with) told me she has seen things first hand... I don't think I will give it another thought. Except to say the entire situation is sad and I guess it's a lesson in trying to handle things before they get out of hand. I guess it's been a long time brewing and the animosity runs much deeper than the situation with Juan

After reading this entire thread and not knowing anyone in bonsai, not even the people involved, I have just two sentences that come to mind:
If there's an artist vs. artist shame circus going on, it will only become a true circus if there are spectators involving themselves.
A tree that falls in the woods where nobody is around to hear it, doesn't make a sound.
In non-philosophical phrasing: If you're involving yourself in this for whatever reason, you're adding to the force that drives a wedge.
There's no way to positively contribute to this situation other than to take the role as silent spectator.
If anyone has some built up frustrations they need to lose, come help put out the forest fires destroying my favorite walking route. I'll get you a beer afterwards.

What an absolute load of total bullshit! During my military career I attended many leadership schools and courses. I'll never forget the exercise one of the instructors conducted during one of them. He whispered a statement to one of the 25 or so students and was told to repeat it to the next person and then that person was to repeat it to the next and so forth and so on until it got to the last person in the room. We were all asked to leave the room with the exception of that last person who was directed to write the statement on the chalkboard (shows my age) for everyone to read. We then re-entered the room and the class erupted in laughter because it was nowhere near what the original statement was. This has been an entertaining read but I will reserve my judgement for when the actual facts come out. Until then, I'll work on my trees and keep learning.

Here is a fact...not relating to what is going on. But a time Seth had his friend post on a forum of his passing. Which didn't sit well with me back then. Who does that!?!
I am sorry to say...I have chose a side. And it's Adam's. I have seen Seth's hate of Adam. Of his harassing me to bring me to hate Adam. I am unsure what brought it on. They once was close...and Adam was a mentor. Keep your enemies closer people...I will go down seeing both of them (Juan/Adam) as victims.

I will tell you what pisses me off; we have a subject where none of the facts are clearly laid out for public inspection but, every innuendo of conspirarcy, racism, homophobia, suicide and maybe in the suggestion of LGBT conflicts with lovers scorned is shared with others who relish in knowing the secrets they wont share. If you wont tell us what, who or why happened please post this crap in the dark where it came from and us PM's. If you feel compelled to say something say it all, or keep your EFFing mouth shut so to speak. Right now I find my self angry a some people I truly like because of a story I do not fully understand. That is not fair to do to us who are not involved.

I still haven't heard an explanation for the most unbelievable part of the story. I'm very surprised that so many people took this aspect of original story as 100% truth when it makes no sense at all if you think about it for more than 5 seconds.
What makes no sense is moving out of the country because someone said mean things. That makes no sense. AT ALL.
If someone says mean things, even racist things, you.... avoid that person. Or slash their tires. You don't pick up your family and move to an entirely different COUNTRY.
Yet people swallowed it whole and ran with it like wildfire.

As a newcomer, it’s very sad to see this sort of thing even in a hobby that’s supposed to be peaceful. I looked into the hobby to get away from antics like this.

I am very new to the online bonsai community, I get most of my information from the beginners forums here and on Reddit. As I don't keep many tropicals, I've only had a few passing reads at Adam's blogs, though hes a very entertaining writer. Without personally knowing any of the involved parties, I have been following this situation as new facts present themselves. I think I may have been one of the first readers of the original Reddit post by u/treehaus as it had only been posted for a few minutes the morning I saw it. I have seen posts made by Seth, Adam, ABS, and others, but has Juan himself made any comment or statement involving this situation?
