2 Bald Cypress from nursery stock

They are too heavy to move for good pictures but the one in the tub has a good leader with 2-3 small sprouts on the trunk. The smaller one has a dozen or so sprouts up and down the trunk with no clear leader. Plan is to leave them alone for a few more months at least.

Hey There SWflorida
Any updates for the end of summer? I've been planning something similar. Thanks for the sharing.

Updates on the two from Lowes. I really need to invest in a sawzall or power carving tools but my next investment is going to be a better camera.

Hoo ya Chere! Ma mom-en-em cube up da gator meat, put da spice an cornmeal on it, deep fry, and toss it into a poke sallet. Getcha som-dem palmetto hawts in da sallet too. Ahhhhhh-iiiii!

I have no idea what you just said - but I did drool a little

I had to move the big one out of the way to get my philipinesis out of the ground so I took a quick picture. Not a good background but still. Wound healing pic too.

If I were you, I would remove ALL the branches around the wound except for the apex. BCs swell quite a bit while healing the wound. If you have any branches there, you are practically guaranteed to have reverse taper.

About a month ago I removed 8-10 branches in that area. I will reassess the ones I left behind.

I have had to re-chop several BCs because of reverse taper right at the chop sites. Every time I left an additional branch in the chop are, I got reverse taper.
