Very Interesting….. I wonder what type of seal or technique wouldn’t cause bulging where the scars accumulated…. I have Kirikuchi-Naoru Liquid and Putty.. the Liquid does cause some bulges , I wouldn’t have expected the putty to do that.

This thread inspired me to do it. Here's my first forest. Maybe dead by summer but... besides out of season we can discuss what is wrong or right with my point of view forest. Won't hurt my feelings.

Still got it from 2016. Need to work on it. Trying to get more back budding on some. I also have another growing out more trunk for the eventual slab planting. I hope... looking at the old pics the trunks have thinkened.

Hi,
My first forest is this Swamp Cypress forest. Still trying to figure out the growth pattern to grow branches.

Edit - the 13th member died so am growing another. 3rd largest with the right hand 3.

I enjoyed looking through this tread so thought i'd share. I put together my first, second and third forest plantings this year!

1. Trident Maple - 18 trees
Mixture of seedlings I grew myself and some larger trees purchased from @JEads
Planted in a @NaoTK forest tray that just barely fit in my carryon bag from 2022 Pacific Bonsai Expo

2. Japanese Larch - 9 trees
I think these larch also came from John Eads (Left Coast Bonsai), maybe 2022 - I suspect I'll add or subtract trees
Planted in a Kisen Ikkoudou oval that I picked up for free from a local FB listing - I envision eventually moving to a slab in 2026

3. Chinese Elm - 16 trees
Some left over trees that from other projects plus some brush hogged seedlings from a 99c auction
Likely a temporary pot purchased at a club auction
