What's your bench setup look like?

I designed and built these below - link to free plans here: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=D128DFCE35A0FD6E!444&authkey=!AKDR4CvdA3guyeo&ithint=file%2c.pdf

Wow!!! Stunning Collection;););)

There's some nice stuff getting posted here! Some nice collections that I think I'd like to see more of in dedicated threads... (hint hint..)
Was out taking photos of the garden today, and on my way back to the house took some shots of my areas, and a couple just for fun as the yard is looking nice right now... A sycamore that gets nicer every year, and a couple of white firs, an underused tree in the landscape. I have always wondered if anyone has made a bonsai out of one...
Happy Memorial day to all.

I built this bench this Spring from Western Red Cedar. The lumber warped a lot after I got it home, but it's still not bad-looking. It sits on uneven ground, so I used adjustable deck post anchors from Home Depot, allowing me to level it when it was put in position.

\Jeremy ,
I have seen your trees and set up...but every time I see it I enjoy it more and more.

I need to show my wife these pictures when she claims I have too many! ;)

My bonsai en is progressing but I am not too sure I like it...Maybe I will start over later. Still need to make the lower shelves...This are temporary ones.

Yes, I agree that this is a good idea for levelers. I use bricks...not exactly perfectly level. Ever. But then again, water doesnt pool on the bench.

Looking Good, but Man do I feel cheap!!

I'm thoroughly enjoying this thread, and am trying to store in my mind some of your good ideas for future use. But I really feel cheap right now. I've got 2 - 8ft landscape timbers laid across a pair of sawhorses in two different spots right now. One spot in the shady part of the yard and one in a sunny part. Nursery trays laying across those with pots, etc. That, and a 2 shelf unit I made using a 2X4 Basics shelf kit and treated 2x4s. Rudimentary? yes! Functional? Again yes! But I'm having fun with it and I guess that's my main focus right now. Snazzier displays will come though!!

Keep on inspiring me folks!!

If you need to show her let me know...I give you more pictures so she can see them all. This is just a tiny section...he he he!

My back yard benches...and deck.

I have too many trees. I ran out of benches. I just sold about a dozen trees at auction, as well as about a half dozen lots of pots. Still have more than I can store. This is what I see every day:

I'm very much a noob but here is my bench. Made this bench from the instructional thread right here on Bnut. It has served me well. Going to try and add some individual stands in the future using wood from hurricane sandy. This is just about the only area in my yard that is both great for sun exposure and safe from the kids.

Dewd! Your stuff looks WAAAAY too nice! You need to build some junk like I have, then when it gets grungy you dont feel guilty that you have let your display go! I have no guilt whatsoever, because mine looks like junk compared to yours. Nice Job.

Is that wire fencing wrapped over 2X4's? What did you attach it with?

It looks like wire shelving to me, a small plactic or metal strap here and there would probably be just fine.

It's industrial shelving that I got from Wee Tree that is galvanized cast metal and fits nicely around 2x 4's. She's liquidating a bunch of her merchandise and disassembling her green houses. It worked for her for years so I just upgraded my benches. I think it will offer great airflow. It's not the prettiest thing ever but a lot less expensive and durable then using all wood. Any wood sunk in the ground rots pretty quick in the PNW. Time will tell.
