What's your bench setup look like?

Benches/ displays help to show your trees at their best. My house is not a nursery it's a place of enjoyment so I try to do the best to make my yard and bonsai look their best when guests come over and other family that occupy my household. Simple as that. The benches I made are very inexpensive to make. Probably less than $80 a piece to make. Gardening is a labor of love for me and the little trees are a part of it. I try to make the space enjoyable for all not just me. This thread is about is about benches. Aesthetics are what they are. My original statement of I hate seeing great trees on ugly benches still holds true. It's not an insult to anyone. It's an honest statement about how a picture looks.

Walter Pall keeps many of his specimen trees on old cut down tree trunks, what do you think about that? ;)

I think that is pretty cool if you can locate them.

i do this as well for all my trees, mostly smaller shorter round of wood, im hopping to get some more, taller pieces, when i get my firewood for the winter, ill save some of the logs and use them for stands. I do it to remind the living trees what will happen to them if they try croak on me.

Slightly different from the first...
I hate when people have nice trees sitting on ugly benches.

Regardless...hating because others do it differently from what you like is wrong. HATE is a pretty strong word. JMHO.

I hate that I chose to read this post.

Ok I take back the word hate. Good grief. Replace it with dislike the look.

Here is mine. Cheap plastic shelving from Home Depot. Yes it is a bit crowded....I am working on a shade area down in the yard so I can space out some of the trees better.

I like the multi level shelves to stick pots on. Wish I had that.

Not so hard for me to find. I turn trees into stumps at work everyday! Got a 3' diameter White Pine to drop next week and maybe I'll bring some logs home.

This is awesome, could you take a photo of the whole shade house? I just might do something similar to this..

This is the front. From my back patio and from my yard. The other side of the pond when I get the new bridge done we will put a tea house.... Or another shade house if I can talk the wife into it.

JoeBonsai, with only 1 post you are new here, but not new to bonsai. Your trees and stands are super, but picture 5 ...wow ...looks like a resort golf course!

I dont have much wind...cold or hot but lots of termites. I used 4" concrete pipe cut lengthwise and made this pipes from concrete.
I put them inside the flower beds...and planted flowers under...Still not finished...I make one pipe a day.

For a while I had fun finding eclectic ways to have pedestals for individual trees. After years of doing that I had this busy looking mess of unrelated items. I've done a big renovation this spring and sought to simplify and unify everything. I like it much better.

For several years I tried to pack as many things into my yard as I could. After going to a couple of art galleries and a few shops here in town that display artwork, I've decided to decrease quantity and maximize display. I have 35 trees in my backyard where I used to have 50+.

I have an area behind my garage under the power lines(full sun) where I pack developing trees shoulder to shoulder.

Good job Terry, I think that is the key, to be able to give the eye something to see, instead of so much that you see nothing. Even if you keep more trees than you have room to display properly, try to have an area for restful viewing.

I think that this is what you are missing Neli....

Nice work everyone, keep the pictures coming!!!
