Whats Going on in Smoke's Backyard?

What is the 2nd one please?
It's my favorite?
I'm going to keep studying them.

Sorry lol
At the risk of this dialog going completely south tomorrow, I will explain about what determines a formal upright from a an informal upright. Aside from the fact that one is bone straight and the other has movement in the trunk, a true informal upright has it's apex finish directly over the root mass. Notice the apex of the pyracantha finishes off the root mass making this a slant style bonsai. Apex placement is a very important aspect of designing a tree. Use it to your advantage.

Good idea! My guess was going to be leaves!

Oh no...the shopping center was being demolished and a new one built. I had complete permission from the developer and the demo company in removing the plants.
lol I figured you had permission. I thought maybe they were redoing the landscaping or something & the stores see still open with shoppers walking past as you worked.

thank you for sharing and explaining and teaching.

Even after knowing what you find as a fault- I still see these as pretty damn solid.
Maybe I need some tequila :)
Not faults sweetie. I was asking if anyone knew what made an informal upright correct. Many (beginners) will put an apex on the tree any ole place with no concern on where it actually goes. My comment was that the four trees I posted were exactly where the apex should be. On the pyracantha it isn't which makes that a slanted tree. Many beginners would consider that an informal upright just because it has movement in the trunk and is upright. But it is a slant style.

Oh jeez - no wonder- I'm going to bed.

In that case they still would have thought nothing of it since I always where my logo shirt and orange vest. They just think I'm part of the development.;););)

Don't worry, I took lots of cuttings when I got home. All are doing great and even blooming. Did about 30 in the pot. Gonna twist these all up come fall.

I was reading on the net that the species is naturalized all over the south, so that makes sense. I'm sure this is probably a pretty invasive species since these cuttings had roots in a week. I didn't do anything other than poke them into the pot. They have grown about 6 inches tall in the last three weeks. I was told they will be thumb size in two years.

They are pretty invasive, they make for some pretty impenetrable under brush. I think the birds eat the fruit and deposit the seeds, I have the sprouting up in various places in the yard. They can go from just a seedling to 2 - 3 feet in a month or two, and the crappy the soil, the better they grow, lol.
